Not sure where to put this, but I'm currently getting a "not secure" warning on this site, bay12forums.com. It seems the site can only be reached via http. When I try to force https, I get "Unable to connect". The issue is present on both my PC and phone, in Chrome and Firefox, so I don't think it's just me.
I tried looking around and couldn't find any existing announcements mentioning this, is this being addressed?

Really, the site dates back to before HTTPS was commonplace. That's why there's not an announcement anywhere - it's not unexpected.

NGL, with the success of the Steam release.....ya'd think Toady could pay someone to make this site HTTPS compliant. The response I've always gotten about the site is "use a unique password and don't share personal information because *shrug* it's a risk." Feels like that is now a solveable issue.

This archaic way of running this forum will only cause more problems down the line. Sooner Toady updates it, the better.

Fuck no! This site still runs on ANY internet capable device... You want to remove that for what? So nobody can intercept our credentials (how would they even it's not trivial) so our PM are safe? Nah ty

The site being unsecured has been true for years. Something to do with updating it being a major pain.

I have to wonder specifically what would be so difficult about adding HTTPS support.  Maybe the forum software is just that clunky and does something terrible like embed explicit http:// scheme links, but even then it's possible to configure web proxies to automatically redirect http:// to https:// and that should cover most problems, including any direct links to http:// scheme URLs on the forums.

Maybe there's some ugly, complex session problem with that internally.

Or maybe Toady's web provider makes it harder than necessary in some way.

I mean, Bay12 games looking like it was built in 1994 is charming but it would be worth it now to support more users to update it. Don't even have to restyle it.

But my guess is it's just Big Data and that's inherently crappy to work with.
