Little nooby axeman I took out to the wilderness exploring. He seemed to be doing well at first, taking out several giant bats, antmen, batmen, naked mole dogs and the like until, on my way to the enterance some cyclops announces his arrival and promptly proceeds to smash my face in. Litterally:

code:
 The batman gives into pain.
The cyclops charges at You!
The cyclops attacks You but You jump away!
The cyclops charges at You!
The cyclops attacks You but You jump away!
The cyclops attacks You but You jump away!
The cyclops charges at You!
The cyclops punches You in the left lower arm with his left hand!
It is bruised!
The cyclops collides with You!
You are knocked over and tumble backward!
The cyclops punches You in the head with his right hand!
The shot glances away.
The batman vomits.
The batman vomits.
The cyclops punches You in the head with his left hand!
It is smashed into the body, an unrecognizable mass!
You have been struck down.
The batman vomits.

Very efficient.  Almost as fast as when they grab your head in one hand, and smash it with the other.

Heh, yeah. In a past Adventuring world there was a cave that so many adventurers, creatures, and companions had died that the floors were literally COVERED in blood, guts, and vomit. I should post the .cmv of the place that I took.

I remember after a particularly brutal Goblin siege, I was shocked by a severed dog head floating in one of my wells   now thats disconcerting.

I decided to take a break from my current fortress, and make a second world to do some adventuring in.  I mad a human swordsman, and was doing pretty well, in addition to all the ordinary undead, minotaurs, ettins, giants, and cyclopes, I had taken out a titan...all done solo.  The next quest I'm assigned is to kill a bronze colossus.  I'm nearly to the cave, when I find a hidden site...so I decide to take a side trip.  It turns out it's a kobold cave.

I kill a dozen or so kobolds of various types without difficulty, when a kobold bowman pops up some stairs as I finish off an ordinary kobold.  Naturally, his first shot goes right through my superior iron plate, piercing both lungs, my liver, and my heart.

I live just long enough to stagger over and attack him.  The same action that I behead my killer, I bleed to death.

I guess that colossus will have to wait for another adventurer.

Edit - I just checked the character's legend.  The last two lines are:
In the early summer of 1050, Ked struck down Thriliglaylber Grindsavage in the White Hole of Trenches.
In the early summer of 1050, Ked Highmasters the Willful Savage Blade of Seals bled to death, slain by Thriliglaylber Grindsavage in the White Hole of Trenches.

It looks like the bowman earned a name for killing me, even though he was dead before I was.

That's why I don't do the sneaking thing anymore... whenever I get spotted it seems some sort of pointy object ends up imbedded in my heart or face.
