This probably counts more as "brutal" than "grousome," but it was the most shocking so far.
"Bloodclaw" the Defender was a Mighty, Extremely Agile, Unbelievably Tough warrior. His skill in shield use was legendary, and he was a master of both wrestling and swordsmanship. He had attained enough wealth to get the best equipment around. After many adventures and countless battles, Bloodclaw met his fate in midsummer of 1052.
Someone in the capital city Landslunches sent him too kill a Swordmaster in an evil fort called Flygrowth. Bloodclaw had never been sent to kill a weaponmaster before, and was ignorant of the danger of his current quest.
Days of travel later, Bloodclaw stormed his way into the fort, slaying any who attacked him. He set goblins flying left and right (many of them one piece at a time). From one hammer-user, he stole a maul, and used it to knock goblins into other goblins. Another goblin, he hacked into its face; ripping up the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and throat, and sending him flying through the hallway, entirely in one blow.
Bodies piled, more than he could count, and yet the target of his quest was nowhere among them. Bloodclaw was completely unscathed through it all, and ready for a real battle. Finally, from a starcase, descended a human, wielding a superior-quality longsword, backed by superior-quality equipment. This was definitely his target.
Bloodclaw, finally facing a formidable opponent, began to think tactically. "This swordmaster definitely has more skill with the sword than I do," he though. "But is he as good at wrestling?"
The plan was to grab the swordmaster's right arm, lock it, and break it, rendering him relatively harmless. Might have worked too--we'll never know.
Bloodclaw reached for the master's upper arm, but the master avoided the move, and countered by charging into him. The two tumbled, the swordmaster stood over him, and all hope was lost.
Bloodclaw scrambled away as the swordmaster took one hack past Bloodclaw's superior-quality shield, his finely-crafted platemail, his exceptional chainmail, his exceptional leggings, into his lower body. Blood poured freely from the gaping wound, creating pools of blood below the two warriors.
Bloodclaw struggled to stand, only to be tackled immediately down again. Another slash past all of his expensive, well-trained, hard-earned defenses, through his lower body, and Bloodclaw was cut entirely in half.
With two slashes, the swordmaster of Flygrowth brutally cut a legendary warrior in twain.
