Dwarf Fortress AI Art
« on: November 09, 2022, 07:54:16 am »

Given the recent proliferation of "art" generated by artificial intelligence, and the fact that DF by its nature is very light on the graphics end of the user interface, I decided to throw some text at an art-bot, just to see what happened.

"Dwarf Fortress Legendary Cheesemaker"

"Dwarf Fortress Some migrants have arrived."

"Dwarf Fortess pig tallow roast"

"Dwarf Fortress the miner punches the magma crab in the left wing and the part sails away in an arc!"

"Dwarf Fortress A elven caravan has arrived."

"Dwarf Fortress masterwork silk sock"

i tend to use dreamstudio.ai, and I like to add "painted by . . . " at the end since the immediate stylistic gains are un-ignorable.

the following are mushroom forests. beware, with A.I. generation, there is often a very, VERY thin line between 'mushroom' and 'penis trees'.

Oooh, nice! I particularly like the Blake & Mondrian ones.

A few Renaissance painter names you might consider trying:
Albrecht Durer
Palma Vecchio
Agnolo Bronzino
Lucas Cranach the Elder
Palma Vecchio
Hans Holbein the Younger

That 2nd one looks like the AI engine went a little too hard on the "shroom" connotation of "mushroom", but the 3rd does make for a good tower-cap!

AI art generators have really come a long way.

oooh nice list. yeah I find painters with moderate style work best since they wont overtake your own input. you know not van gogh or pollock or warhol or whatever.  the post impressionist landscape artists are fucking great too

feather tree with eggs painted by Lucas Cranach the Elder:

perhaps my favorite part of using real artists as input, is you can sometimes figure out what pieces of art were used by the A.I. nodegraph to build elements. sometimes the A.I. only has impressions of one or two examples of each artist, and the result is that you see the same pattern of style despite differing input, like for instance the same shape of tree present in two images that do not reference trees in their input command

AI art seems to be the perfect match for an AI generated world.
