OPPORTUNITY PHASE 11

With the defeat of the Crimson Plague, the city is safer and greater opportunities are available: the free opportunity is re-instated for active teams.

The Dandy Lads
1. Don Jetman is now a teenager with no memories of the last twenty years or so, and is no longer able to act as CEO of AWE. This, along with the disastrous presentation has tanked the company's valuation. Marigold is intent on buying out AWE and she wants to sponsor the Dandy Lads as the official mascots of the company.
Offer: The Dandy Lads would gain +3 income and each gain a random gadget, but may no longer attend Deadly missions (conditional Deadly missions, like "Deadly: Bullets" can still be attended if the attendees have full protection).

Bro Club
1. The base is quiet without Pincushion and Joshua Tree hanging around. The plants soon look sad without their regular attention. The Advisor contemplates how best to clear out their stuff to make more space. On the bright side, now one half of the house is empty, it'll be easier to get on with a new extension...
Offer: +1 income OR +1 base size, but  Pincushions belongings are sold and a team member of your choice misses the next mission.

The Watch
1. The Watch gain a cross-over with Watch Tower
2. The Mangler II wants to drill out the concrete on the original Mangler's grave, so he can study his corpse for better suit ideas.
Offer: Mangler II gains trait "Extreme Crushing", but also gains +1 infamy from grave-robbery

Route Horizon
Pathfinder considers tinkering up some gauntlets to be more effective in a fist-fight, she has the tools and the willing, but unlike Endless Highway, she's not much of a mechanic.
Offer: Pathfinder gains trait "Highly Experimental Pneumatic Gauntlets"

PUNCH!
1. Mistress Extra is trying to persuade the Mayor to pay her mercenary fees for the work she did when the team was off the books. It'll come out out of the local government's operating budget, which will be politically problematic.
Offer: gain +4 income for the four perps captured or killed, but take -1 rep to all neighbourhoods
2. Pockette reckons she can persuade Mortar to join the team: she's a merc so it'll just take a little inducement.
Offer: -1 income, Mortar joins the team even if there's not currently a free slot (she takes up a slot once on the team as usual)

Protection Inc
1. Mentat struggles with whether to go public with the mind distribution, or let people think he's dead.
Offer:
A: Mentat gains +1 fame and loses the 1 infamy from people thinking he's a ghost, but everyone knows he only exists mentally.
OR
B: Mentat gains the trait "Secret Existence" and can no longer gain infamy, but his fame no longer counts towards the team's total while he has this trait, and he can no longer gain fame.

The Gray Company
1. Joshua Tree wants to hire Sin Reaper and he's willing to pay in gold.
Offer: Dread Fool gains the trait "Wealthy" from Joshua Tree (worth 2 income if liquidated), but Sin Reaper leaves the Gray Company.

House Edge
1. Bakal is remarkably good at DIY and moving furniture to conserve space. She offers to put this to good use.
Offer: +1 base size, House Edge lose x1 Bakal cross-over and Bakal is occupied during the next mission phase.

RECRUITMENT PHASE 12

Removing/Changing Team Members

Spoiler: Letting Members Go (click to show/hide)

A team member can be promoted to the new leader without a coup: the old leader gains -1 fame and the "ex-leader" trait, and the new leader gains +1 fame.

Hiring
Everyone who has slots may either seek to recruit one hero from the recruitment pool OR they may hold tryouts to fill all slots. You may instead propose a team merger with another team, if your team has enough room to accommodate all new members. Villain teams recruit from the Rogue's Gallery instead.

Due to the Mayor's Clemency: in addition to any other recruitment, hero teams may take one one villain in custody onto their team (ignoring requirements like fame and max team size). Once they are redeemed (fame higher than infamy), you may recruit again in this way. Villains recruited still count towards your team size as normal. Villains have fame 0 by default.

You can't recruit someone with a higher fame than your team's fame. Villains recruit with Infamy instead of Fame. If two people try to recruit the same person, I'll flip to see who gets to them first.

The Spider Knights will attempt to hire The Woman Lamp (a local hero to breathe fire into the much-reduced team)
The Cleansing will attempt to hire Aunty Anti, and take Vile Viola on clemency (they are both against the satanic Exalt conspiracy)

Spoiler: The Watch (click to show/hide)

Mini-Mangler will not get to graverob. Graverobbing is bad for your public image, that’s the exact thing we’re trying to fix.

Bantum Boy, Ziggurat, and Plumbaris will create a spin-off in Stoney Island, called Watchpoint. Mostly to help clean up whatever might be left of the Crimson Plague mess. Bantum is a known face there, Zig can do well as a leader, and Plumbaris seems to be on fairly good terms with both of them.
The Watch will, as usual, host a coherence tryout, to hopefully recruit three people.

As we are once again broke, having immediately blown all our funds on property damage, the Watch is no longer willing to pay for property damage, because we just can’t do that.

But she knows who might be!

We’ll let the old granny retire and won’t bring her out for anything dangerous. Fortunately barring the Spork and Lord Bombarrel’s workshop, rearranging furniture doesn’t count as anything dangerous.

Accept the Opprotunity

Recruit Toytown

I think you have a team slot for hiring, if you want Stirk.

I've got all the missions written up, so the update should be fairly soon after people submit their opportunities/recruitment this phase.

The kitchen was just how they'd left it that morning, six plates of half eaten pancakes still on the table. Camarada collected the hours-cold food, scraped it into the garbage disposal.

Went back for the stale drinks. A milk-white coffee for Crackler. The dregs of an espresso shot for Nitrox. Película's Orange Juice. Zirconia's iced Tea. Her own water. Where is... she looked about. There. A Diamondbacks coffee mug on the counter, abandoned after a desperate swig. Black, two sugars.

Hey, I need to ask a favour...

"Gaddammit!" She startled. Alba was just as good at going unnoticed as she was, although she had a few more things to distract her.

I'm sorry, I'm still figuring this out. Mentat's voice echoed slightly.

"This is so weird. It literally sounds like you're inside my head."

It varies for different people, but that's the most common way to experience it so far. Anyway. I need you to break into my room.

"What? Don't we have a spare key somewhere?"

Not since we changed the locks. I uh, never got round to it. Figured I'd find the time eventually. Now, once you're in, I need you to log on to my computer. I need to let the city know about me. Maybe it'll help that kid. Pretty sure he's traumatised.

"What makes you think I can break into your room?"

I've been in your memories of college more recently than you have. I know.

Lexicon makes his way home after the brawl to a darkened mansion. Without bothering to turn on any lights, he fixes himself a drink and then, with impassive curiosity, wanders the rooms looking for the others. He soon finds a dim light, the only light in the house, spilling under the door of Chase's room. Opening it, he sees Chase curled up in the far corner of his bed, facing the wall. Bolt and Brouhaha, side by side by the door playing some kind of handheld game, look up at Lexicon, neither side saying a word at first.
"... Pincushion's dead."
"And Joshua bailed on us."
"I see."
It seemed like this deserved more of a response, but for some reason he couldn't feel anything right now.
"Shit. He was practically still a kid."

A small voice comes from the bed.
"Wasn't he the oldest?"
"I meant Pincushion."
"Oh. Right."

Reedy little chiptune noises occasionally break the silence.

"I don't want to do this anymore."
Bolt Blue jerks alert, almost standing up, half-pulling the game and Brouhaha with him.
"It's not that— I mean, we're not just..."
"I'm not leaving this mansion without a fight."
"I'm sick of always screwing up. When was the last time we had a plan that just worked out? When was the last time we just won? Has that ever happened?"
"There was the time we trashed that mirror guy."
Bolt and Lexicon, having had a much worse time that day, glare at Brouhaha.
"That wasn't a good plan, that was Joshua going off the reservation again. Besides, you should have been more careful. I'm surprised they even let you stay with us after that. I'm surprised they let us join the clemency program in the first place. I already backed the wrong horse to begin with."
Chase sighs.
"Listen. You're not going to talk me out of this. But I'm not quitting either. Just... Lexicon, you already complained once about my decisions. Now you're in charge, okay? You can deploy yourself as safely as you want, and the rest of us. Just tell me what to do and I'll try not to screw it up. And right now I want to sleep, so get out of here."
"...Okay." It seemed like a good idea, actually, for a few reasons. Bolt Blue looked pissed and Brouhaha didn't seem to care. Lexicon figured, even if they argued, Chase would just use his power if he's made up his mind anyway. He took his glass down to the lounge and sat and thought about what to do next. Maybe start with a day off for everyone to try to get it back together.

No recruitment.
The Bro Club is now a Friendship Club.
Lexicon is now the leader of the Bro Club.

RECRUITMENT REPORTS 12

The Watch send out a team on a spin-off to Stoney Island, and gains +3 team fame (Founded Watchpoint):

WATCHPOINT
Ziggurat (Javier Pahuac) (leader) | Tower Creation | Practical, Intelligent, Inhibited, Hates Crowds, Attention to detail | 7
Plumbaris (Fillan Doyle) | Ranged weight manipulation | Crude, Playful, Educated, Loves Lady Lefant, Amused by Muffin Madness | 9
Bantum Boy | Short-Ranged flight, Hyperkicking | Child, Crazy, Happy, Looks up to Frostara | 5, 1 Infamy

"Well well well me ole mucker... first Las Destinos, then Zircon City and now Stoney Island we truly are going up in the world," Plumbaris says to Ziggurat, somewhat sarcastically. The pair used to work together with Lady Lefant some year prior, and now they're working together once again. "I heard it's the only city where the police department quit en masse for their own safety..."

"There's important work to be done there, mopping up the Crimson Tide remnants," Ziggurat says, stonily.

"And we get to bring the sprog with us too," Plumbaris says, grinning. "We truly are blessed."

"Bantum Boy is well liked back there, and with our new team we can offer him safety he didn't have when working solo," Ziggurat continues.

"No, I like the kid too. It'll be a blast. And hey, it could be worse. They coulda sent us to Leadville!"

The pair shudder with the thought of it.

* * *

The Watch hold another tryout. [3+2] Five heroes attend:

Spoiler: The Watch Tryout (click to show/hide)

The most cohesive were Ascupart, Wiffle and Karma Kid:

Name |   Known Powers | Traits | Fame/Infamy
Karma Kid | Mirroring damage inflicted on self onto others | Child, Vindictive, Calm | 0/2
Ascupart (Formerly Choler) | Reactive muscle-growth | Poetic, Angry, Imposing, On Parole | 0/3
Wiffle | Floating, Impervious | Ethereal, Calm, | 4

Karma Kid stopped by the Mangler II's workshop shortly after getting accepted onto the team.

"Hey Big M, cool that we're both on the same team again," Karma Kid says.

"Good to see you too kid," the Mangler II says, putting down his tools. "It was a travesty what they did to Knoll Shot!"

"They'll get what's coming to them in time," Karma Kid says, quite calmy.

***

Ascupart, towering over the other heroes, shakes Frostara's hand firmly when he's accepted onto the team.

"You might the only person who ever beat me in a fight without having to resort to mind trickery," Ascupart tells her, reflecting on the time when he was Choler in Dark Humor and she trapped him in a block of ice.

"I got lucky," Frostara says, a paragon of modesty.

"Either way, I appreciate being given a second chance," Ascupart says. He slams a fist down onto his palm, "There's a lot that's wrong in this city and I'm looking forward to fighting it for once."

***

Muffin Madness gives Wiffle the tour. "And here's the break room, and down there's the gym and over here's where we have our debriefs..."

Wiffle isn't really listening, he walks along, looking out the window at the sun outside. "It's a beautiful day today," he says.

The Gray Company attempt to hire Rat King. [6+4-2(hero vs villain)=8]

"WE WILL FOLLOW YOU SO WE MAY SPREAD," the rats whisper as one as they pour out of drains and bins and swarm around Dread Fool.

Rat King gains trait "Assessing Dread Fool" and is hired:

Name |   Known Powers | Traits | Fame/Infamy
Rat King | Gestalt Intelligence, Rat Bodies, Ice-Shielding | Unfathomable, Unsettling, Omnipresent, Assessing Dread Fool | 0/0

House Edge recruit Toytown:

Name |   Known Powers | Traits | Fame/Infamy
Toytown | Creating tiny automatons | Single-Minded, Hates Surprises, Genius | 2

"General Nutcracker can perform autonomously for a period of up to nineteen days without recharging," Toytown says, showing off their box of wooden clockwork toys. Each one is about 4 centimetres tall and is made to look like a member of a small town and they move around the box going about a daytime routines. The hero is dressed in a bulky red soldier uniform, like their General Nutcracker, with an opaque mask and vocal distorter that masks their face and gender. They don't take it off even after being accepted onto the team.

"But what do they do in a fight?" Tin Soldier asks.

"That's like asking, 'what would the people of Zircon City do in a fight'," Toytown says. "It depends on the toy."

Lexicon is promoted to leader of the Bro Club, and the Bro Club becomes a Friendship Club. Lexicon gains +1 fame, The Advisor loses 1 fame and gains the trait "Ex-Leader". The team spends a lot of time hanging out in the house after Pincushion's death, reflecting on what was lost, but also what they still had: a club of bros.

Lexicon gains trait "Loves the Bro Club" and "Trusts Bolt Blue"
The Advisor gains trait "Trusts Lexicon" and "Believes in the Bro Club"
Brouhaha gains trait "Friends with Bolt Blue" and "Friends with the Advisor"
Bolt Blue gains trait "Friends with Brouhaha" and "Bro Club Loyalist"

The Cleansing attempt to recruit Aunty Anti (5+1(+1-1 traits)). Aunty Anti is absolutely not willing to work alongside the so-called Evolved and sees the recruitment attempt as a trap. Joshua Tree fights against his plants while Sin Reaper collapses in a fit of despair and Aunty Anti disappears and gains the trait "Wary".

The Cleansing take Vile Viola on Clemency:

Name | Known Powers | Traits | Infamy | Motivation
Vile Viola (in the Prelate's body) | None? | Dissociative, Delusional, Self-Absorbed, Unpredictable, Infectious Humming | 3 |Discovering The Truth About The Exalt Project

(As they are dragged lower by their new recruit, the Cleansing's average infamy is now greater than their average fame (1 > 0) and so they are now considered a villain team.)

The Spider Knights recruit The Woman Lamp.

Dandy Lads can't recruit with their team identity, and so may decide on their opportunity during the mission phase.

MISSION PHASE 12

Spoiler: Goods and Services (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Tags (click to show/hide)

#-1 Villain Missions
If you are a villain team, you may undertake personal missions, or any of the following. Villains may private-message their actions.

Spoiler: Villain Missions (click to show/hide)

#0 Personal Mission
You may assign a person for a personal mission. Name one of the following goals, assign someone to it, and you will either gain a related opportunity in the opportunity phase, or some immediate increase of intelligence.

Spoiler: Personal Missions (click to show/hide)

#1 - Pro Evo Arena
[Hero Limit: 3 per team]
At the new Power Arena in Downtown, there's a knock-out tournament planned. Teams of up to three heroes to battle, non-lethally, in a televised fight. Cursed Legacy, Spider Knights and Rust Riot should be there, as well as a team of people with temporary pastry powers. Big cash prizes are available for the top placing teams.

#2 Sandstorm
[Recurring]
The sandstorm in Mireton only seems to be growing, but the intensity of the storm in its center means no one has been able to get close to Gaffer within.

#3 Hounded
[Time Sensitive][Recurring]
Uncanny howling has been heard all throughout Silver Row, but it isn't Bloodmoon this time. Baron von Woof and his Legion of Wickedness have been seen in the area, but they don't appear to be the source of the noise either.

#4 Secret Lab
The heroes have received an anonymous tip-off about a secret underground testing facility. It come with a poorly focused picture of a lab set up with a cryogenic tank, within which is a human-shaped void. Apparently the base is under a hangar in a disused airfield in Greenbelt.

#5 Convention of Evolved Rights
[Hero Limit: 1 per team]
At the town hall in Oldtown, a convention is being held. Policy makers, human rights lawyers, politicians and prominent SHE-activists are coming together to talk about the legal treatment of Evolved. Local representatives are encouraged to attend, though there are limited spaces available.

#6 Bridge Jam
[Time Sensitive]
With most traffic to and from the Mire being routed through the South Bridge to avoid the sandstorm in Mireton, traffic is completely backed up in a complete gridlock all through Dusk Beach.

Mostly they just hit you with whatever is readily available. We all learned that one the hard way.

The Spork will stay home and use our building boost to make a super-long-range railgun with is his newfound knowledge of powerful magnets. Fit in a nonlethal option if he can. We could use a little more long distance firepower so we arn't always running into villain's trap filled lairs.

PB, Lord Bombarrel, Toytown, and Tin Soldier will head to #4 Secret Lab. Two of them are geniuses and one of them has advanced mechanics so we can probably investigate without blowing up 1/12th of the town.
