No wait I had an actual relevant question. How do we increase base size? Or am I stuck putting PB&J clones through hell until I have a full team that way?
Through opportunities, of the sort you've just been given. In the next phase I'll give players another way to generate new opportunities for increasing base size, income, etc., but its always a trade-off.

Neat, so it is a good deal I should probably take then.

Second question is how the Fame limit works. Team limit is lowest of Fame or Base. But since Fame is based on the average of your members recruiting a new member will change your Fame - for example if I was to recruit Spork my fame would no longer be high enough to recruit 3 people. I'm assuming they won't immediately leave in the assumption that any team that would hire them isn't worth joining?

"Hello good morning! This is Extra. I wanted to congratulate you on the successful takedown of The Mangler! We couldn't have done it without you two. I hope we'll see you at the rebuilding effort?"

Constellation Aurora

Opportunities

1. After the fight, Iron Gavel is downcast. While the team played a huge part, they weren't ultimately responsible for taking down the villain. He suggests making a public announcement to that effect where they refuse to take credit for beating the Mangler.
Offer: Iron Gavel gains trait "Respects Sol Heart"; Sol Heart gains trait "Honest", -1 reputation in Downtown

Although their first mission was technically a success, a downcast mood hovers above the two members of Constellation Aurora. Iron Gavel's black coffee is already tepid, and Sol Heart didn't even bother refilling their cup of tea. Breaking the silence with a heavy sigh, Iron finally says what is on everyone's mind.

"We don't deserve the credit for taking down that bastard. Hate to admit it but... that's how it is."

Sol answered Iron's suggestion with a nod. Gathering their thoughts, Sol replied truthfully.

"I was thinking the same. And, of all the heroes involved, my contribution was the least if not non-existant. I... don't wish to chase glory if it means trampling on my pride."

With an unusually soft and empathetic smile for this brutal superhero, Iron agreed.

"I'm glad we are on the same wavelength. Let us make a public announcement, then."

"Yes, let us."

Opportunity #1 accepted

2. A downtown shop owner has asked Constellation Aurora to be involved in the cleanup activities after the Mangler's rampage. It'll be very long and tiring work, but the people of Downtown will be very impressed.
Offer: +2 reputation in Downtown, Sol gains trait "Exhausted"

Later that days Constellation Aurora received a request from one of the shop owners affected by the Mangler's rampage. Weighed down by their guilt of not contributing much during the fight with the Mangler, Sol Heart didn't hesitate a second to accept.

"Constellation Aurora will help."

The manager of the Starlight had a stern and worried look.
"Sol. I understand where you are coming from, but you should decline. You are already spent from the fight with the Mangler, you have done enough for the people of the Downtown today."

"But I was useless for the entire fight."

The old man laughed warmly, and leaned forward on the desk separating him from Sol.
"Failures are but steps on the road to success. If you rush after them, you will trip. Trust this old veteran, you are still young and full of potential. There will be more opportunities for you to shine, crises where you will be needed. This is the responsibility of being a superhero, you must be ready when the time to act comes for you."

Sol at first frowned at the wisdom of their mentor, knowing he was absolutely right. Calming down a bit, Sol took a sip of tea from their cup.

"Thanks a lot teacher. I'm glad you are here to advise me."

Their spirits lifted up, Sol was ready to work doubly hard to make up for today. Just you wait, people of the Downtown!

Opportunity #2 refused

Recruitment

Sol browsed the list of superheroes looking for a team. Everytime they stopped on one of the applicant files, Sol asked the opinion of Iron and the manager. To maintain a certain team image, it was decided to ignore the superheroes of low fame.

"Mimesis?"

"I know her. She is a bitch, but she got the skills and the experience. I'm tempted to say her true superpower is getting on your nerves though."
"Ah Mimesis, she hasn't changed much from what I can see. She has some past history with the Chorist, although I don't know the reason."

Sol moved on to another face, one that was all glossed up and sparkly.

"Ah- Here is the Chorist"
"A preaching pretty face who can be a true pain in the ass when it comes to his image. I don't like how superficial he is."
"His power overlaps a bit with yours Sol, and attitude-wise it could end up problematic if he feels you are stealing attention away from him. I recommend against him."

The next profile had a... tougher, serious look Sol would say?

"Harpoodle? That's one funny name..."
"It's the Chorist, but with claws, stupider, and obsessed with looking cool. Not a bad person until you slight him, because oh boy does he hold grudges. A christmas tree of grudges."
"A powerful combative element, that is for sure. Straigthforward, but need clear orders to be directed. Ambiguity will cause him to act impredictably."

Sol moved on to the last three profiles.

"Marigold, Thornrose, and Bullwhip."

"Quite the vicious trio. Marigold is a ruthless hero. If you thought I was ruthless, then you haven't seen Marigold. Her wealth allows her to act mostly unhinged thanks to the political weight that comes with money. I don't think you would mesh well together.
Thornrose... a nice fellow. We drank a few drinks back when we were rookies, and we were even sparring partners at times.
Now Bullwhip... that one is extra vicious. I think they may be a sadist, but I didn't work much with them."

"Iron is overall right on mark, although I will disagree a bit concerning Marigold. She has killed before indeed, but the circumstances were justified. I knew the girl when she was a rookie, she is not a bad person. Rather, she is very strong of heart. Despite her power attracting the greed of many, she managed to become a respectable, albeit lonely hero. And of course, her wealth wouldn't hurt your team. That is a bonus.
Thornrose and Bullwhip are too new for me to have much info on them, but they would make good fighters."

After they had finished reviewing the profiles, the manager gave his thoughts.

"Balance wise, I think it would be best to avoid recruiting a third combat-oriented member or else your team will take too much of a combat-focus. That leaves out Bullwhip, Thornrose, and Harpoodle. The Chorist's power overlaps with your utility, so you should leave him out too. That leaves Marigold and Mimesis."

"Well shit, what else can I add? Mimesis or Marigold... Guess I will vouch for Mimesis then, so as to make it fair."

Sol pondered their options, and finally settled for Marigold.
"I was more leaning toward Mimesis, but teacher got me interested in Marigold. I will contact her then."

Constellation Aurora will recruit Marigold

Safely home in her base, Extra decides to phone Constellation Aurora to congratulate them. If they'll pick up...

"Hello good morning! This is Extra. I wanted to congratulate you on the successful takedown of The Mangler! We couldn't have done it without you two. I hope we'll see you at the rebuilding effort?"

"Good morning Miss Extra, this is Sol Heart speaking. It was a pleasure working with you, and it is us who must thank you for your help, we wouldn't have been able to stop the Mangler by ourselves. Unfortunately Constellation Aurora will not take part in the rebuilding effort, as we have decided to save our resources in case another emergency arises. I do hope we will work together again."

You're quite right: the team size limit is only checked at the start of recruitment.

(This also means that it doesn't matter if someone has  a tryout and recruits several people who would lower their limit)

As PB&J(And PB&J etc) act as a moving team setting up in the new Museum office, Luke looks down at his potential recruits. Its down to a coin flip this time.

...The Spork. Well I guess he can make gadgets the rest of the team can use. If he can mass produce something we can fight with then we have the supply line for our army.

House Edge recruits The Spork and moves to the new space in Old Town.

Spoiler: Route Horizon (click to show/hide)

Accept Opportunity 1 and 2, send Lovehandles on Opportunity 2.
Tryouts for Cohesion, with power as a secondary.

"Shit, man, we got stomped out there. Let's not let that happen again, it sucks."

Do we just use income for opportunities, or can we purchase things for our team at some point?
Additionally, what counts as a "sound" I can make physical, and what sound does a physical noise make? Can I become entirely silent by turning all the noise I make into impacts against the ground? Can I bring a whistling top to batter anybody around it into the ground?
