Alright, four more days guys!

As for the starting location and worldgen settings, since we probably want to see as many things as possible, I'm considering the following: Small world (tends to run a little smoother in the long run), medium history (get some nice mixing and lore going on without risking civs going extinct and clogging down gameplay), high number of civillizations and sites (to have more neighbours at more locations), high savagery and beasts (to diversify our uninvited visitors) and frequent minerals (to have a diverse and plentiful set of materials to work with).

As for the site, I'll try to find some with preferably: all neighbours (maybe except towers, since in my experience they tend to siege so much no one else gets to visit before you've got a decent military), an intersection of biomes (preferably 3, and hopefully with different levels of savagery to increase animal diversity on the map), deep & shallow metals (for material diversity again), and since I'm starting, no aquifer ;). I'll post three or four sites between which you'll be able to choose.

Are all of you okay with these settings or do you have other suggestions?

I've also drafted a really basic little ruleset for play
  • Players have 7 days to finish 1 ingame year.
  • Once a turn is complete, I'll DM the next on the list, who has 48 hours to accept and start the turn
  • If anything comes up during or before your turn that prevents play, feel free to DM me to get a little break going or move you down the turn order
  • Turns need to be played on the Premium steam version of the game, since I don't think there'll be save compatability

Am I missing anything here, and do you all agree to these? I think this is plenty of time, and with this pretty large turn list already I think it'll be greatly appreciated if people take a little less time than given, but it should at least give people enough options.

I assume "don't bother the necromancers until we're ready" is part of the rules.

I'd also suggest having at least one biome be Joyous Wilds, since that should be fun, but not as FUN as evil biomes.

Also probably a place with at least some trees.

The settings look great!

It might be interesting to ban some of the cheesier strategies, such as massive cage trap hallways and using bridges as unbreakable doors ;)

Just a couple of minutes left! I'll post some starts as soon as I get my grubby little hands on the game.

I was initially planning to name the fortress Koganusan, in honour of the new soundtrack, but I just looked up those words on the wiki and it turns out that's just dwarven for Boatmurdered, so that one is out. Anyone got other suggestions?

Additionally, does anyone want to be dwarfed within the starting seven? My plans are:
2 miners,
1 woodcutter + carpenter
1 mason
1 chef
1 farmer + fisherdwarf
1 craftsdwarf

Maybe the fort could have Urist/Dagger as part of its name?

And i'd like to be dorfed as the farmer/fisherdwarf, if possible.

In the end I had to opt for a medium world after all, to give us some diversity. Here's the possibilities!

Option A:

Biomes:
Temperate Conifer Forest (Joyous Wilds)
Temperate Shrubland (Untamed Wilds)
Mountain (Untamed Wilds)(No Aquifer)

Neighbours: Elves, Humans, Goblins
Stream

Option B:

Biomes:
Rocky Wasteland (Wilderness)
Sand Desert (Wilderness)
Tropical Grassland (Wilderness) (No Aquifer)

Neighbours: Elves, Humans, Goblins
Stream

Option C:

Biomes:
Temperate Conifer Forest (Wilderness)(No Aquifer)
Temperate Shrubland (Untamed Wilds)(No Aquifer)
Mountain (Wilderness)

Neighbours: Elves, Humans, Goblins
Stream

Option D:

Biomes:
Temperate Freshwater Marsh (Untamed Wilds)
Mountain (Untamed Wilds) (No Aquifer)
Temperate Savannah (Untamed Wilds) (No Aquifer)

Neighbours: Elves, Humans, Goblins
Stream

I'd say option A. Because joyous wilds and lots of trees to murder.

I would also agree. Option A seems like the best choice.

I do like the sand, gold and region name of The Plain of Problems, but option A really does seem like the most interesting one, so that gets my vote.

Chapter I: Arrival

Crossing the great mountain range south of our kingdom had been quite the feat. We chose a poor time to travel, thinking the melting of the winter snows would make it an easier journey, yet the torrents of meltwater running down the peaks begged to differ. We lost some to those floods. Others to traveling packs of wolves. Yet seven of us survived. We had been no stranger to mountains, yet this range was different to the one we called home. Strange creatures roamed here - giant insects, animal men and once daeizer swore he saw a large man-like creature covered in white fur. Quite frightening, that was. But King's orders were King's orders: the Grand Alliance of Civilized Folk had given our kingdom permission to settle south of the Long Point, and our humble group was to create the foundation of a thriving little settlement. As we finally climbed the last of the peaks, and suddenly saw an expanse of fertile, blue-grassed lands below, the struggling wheel of our cart finally gave out and the entire contraption careened down the steep mountainside. Brewer bob was still inside, accompanied by the half-a-dozen peacocks the Baroness of Wereslick had so generously granted us. We gave chase, and found the wagon unuseable, the peacocks escaped, but our goods and companion luckily all in good order. Here, on this blue grassland, we would find fortune. Or, a little above that grassland at least. The view from up there had been quite stunning, and the ground down here felt too.... wet.

As for a name... Irritan Anam. The New Beginning of Ages. It felt fitting, for such a monumental undertaking. We would bring pride and glory to the mountainhome, and increase our standing with the Grand Alliance of Civilized Folk. Strike the earth!
