The WorldThe Skyboulder seemed to come ever closer to the ground and the sea, the Ascendants noticed. They observed, they foresaw, then, they went to pray.
They went up to the mountain, as they always do. But this time there, they found someone. The mountain god.
The god of mountain blood spoke, told them the secrets of space and time, matter and energy. They learned these under his command, and with that knowledge, they made the impossible.
The Ascendants built a ship. Not a ship to cruise through the waves but one to pass between the stars. They put inside it a thousand eggs from a thousand different duels, then sent it off to someplace else. Where, the mountain god does not know.
Then the moon broke. Skyboulder broke into pieces and each of these pieces bombarded the ocean with such force that almost toppled the Seamount from its very foundation.
The City died. The Island did too. Many things died to the crushing force of a wave large enough to break mountains.
Then the world fell under a decades long spell of cold.
One Lifeboat made it through all of it. Just one. It returned where it knew home and died there. It's passengers though, the green fuzz and the piggybackers, they simply got off and went their way, there they encountered the tough grass of the sea, and some distantrelatives. There they took the infection of the Second Mind, which had survived with the survivors.
As these were occuring, the rocks lifted to reveal a single giant vessel. It was buried under the earth to sleep through the end of the world. And it had succeeded in its mission to survive into the future.
The world has started anew.
Dwarf Octorhino, Tusked Octohorse, Clippy Octohorse, Horsie Octohorse, Seal Yunus, Theiving Quadcat, Slimy Puffercovy Puritan Puffercovy, Slimy Remnant and Terrestrial Slimetree are extinct.
The Poultry Terrub and Habsburg Terrub have merged, creating the Feral Seapoult.
The Lifeboat Livyat fullfilled its purpose.
The Shellfolk have left the planet.
Overbroad Shale | Vast Barren Underwater Rock Biome | 5/10 speciesAn aquatic animal the size of a medium lizard, with hardened skin, four pairs of stubby legs, a pair of front claws, open circulatory system connected to a flail of gills and a single lung, and a suction-powered, omnivorous digestive canal that runs through it, with two eyes near the mouth and a brain behind them, all encompassed by a skeleton. Its soft tissues output the same electric signals algea growths does, which allows it to hide in its algea plots unseen. Both sexes has a specialised spine on their head. Males inject the females with sperm, and females drop their eggs off their ovipositor.
An incredibly polymorphic, eusocial species of gelatinous, complex animal that comes in many forms which support the greater whole. It forms entire ecosystems upon itself alone. Kelp-like, towering, nourishing Orchards which terraform and grow stalks of fruit and embryoes for the others to eat and spawn from. Small, cheap and unassuming Assassins to kill select targets and overwhelm by sheer numbers. The flat, frilly and circular Gardeners to maintain its very own habitat. Numerous, gaseous and prehensile Air Balloons to reach onto the sky and land. Hardshelled, noxious and sharpended Soldiers to form armies that cut, impale, slash and defend, with the large, powerful and imposing Floating Hubs for them to dock and move around with security. Huge, ship-like and segmented Arks to sail afar to safekeep a sample of the collective with a growth of their own little chorus. Semi-autonomous, amphibious and flightful Scouts to observe and project force onto the dry grounds. Fatty and filling Meat Slime to eat and sate onself and others. Digestive and sticky Sludge for trapping and suffocating parasite younglings. And finally, The King of All Slime, the large and powerful, self-aware, seldom hatched minds to rule them all. It is capable of designing its environment and eco-engineer to a remarkable degree thanks to its sapience.
An animal that is an obligate parasite, with many long, muscular, skin penetrating feeding tendrils that end in keratin hooks, a developed brain and an acid resistant, hardened shell of flesh. They jet around by pushing water off their gills, and have a sense of smell to detect things around. They are somehow resilient to unfavourable conditions, and can survive alone for a short amount of time. They anchor themselves to their hosts via their tendrils, using a moderate electric shock from their electric gland to stun and control the movements of the host to burrow in it and direct it to better feeding grounds. They also secrete a chemical cocktail to boost the hosts strenght, which also acts like a dopamine boost, a chemical lobotomy and a pacifier to make the host perfectly obedient to its will. It does this with very little electric footprint, making it unobvious to predators. They reproduce via budding much smaller Turnips, that are ejected via the host coughing them up.
An ambush predatory, aquatic animal the size of a medium lizard, with hardened skin, four pairs of stubby legs, many long spines, a pair of front claws, open circulatory system connected to a flail of gills and a single lung, and a suction-powered, omnivorous digestive canal that runs through it, with two eyes near the mouth and a brain behind them, all encompassed by a skeleton. Its soft tissues output the same electric signals algea growths does, which allows it to hide in its algea plots unseen. It instinctively cultivates large beds of algea to lure prey. Both sexes has a specialised spine on their head. Males inject the females with sperm, and females lay their eggs on the algea beds.
Ecosystem Effects: -5 population to all animals.
An algea grazing animal the size of a small fish, with spiny hardened skin, open, immunised circulatory system, a pair of fish-like eyes and a simple brain, and a suction-powered, herbivorous digestive canal that runs through it. There is a set of keratin baleen in its mouth that it uses to rake algea. It has a swim bladder and a simple lung that breathes air, along with a set of muscles that control its many pairs of hooked fins, which it uses to cling to the giants back. It reproduces by laying eggs that must be fertilised.
