One thing: the Cheetah players have an advantage on the time wait, as they only have to wait 48 hours, while Hippos have to skip two days. That sounds the same, but as we've just seen now, it's not, it's a whole day's advantage.

D1: Cheetah takes a turn at 7AM. Hippo takes a turn
D2: Both take no turn
D3: Cheetah takes a turn after 7AM. Hippo has to skip a turn.
D4: Hippo can play, Cheetah can play.

Is this benefit intended design?

The intention was to make them fair. With cheetah using an hour counter for everything, and hippo using a daily counter for everything.

D1: Cheetah takes a turn at 0GMT. Hippo takes a turn
D2: Both take no turn
D3: Cheetah takes a turn after 0GMT. Hippo takes a turn

I think the benefit you're alluding to is "convenience" but not hard minimal wait-time.

One thing I added to this game, was bringing back taking turns, which prevented going twice, especially before and after the calendar day turnover. Perhaps cheetah needs a similar rule that will restrict this convenience. If there is something as elegant as the former that could be a good fix.

No. Let me put it to you again:

D1: Cheetah takes a turn at 0GMT. Hippo takes a turn
D2: Both take no turn
D3: Cheetah takes a turn after 0GMT. Hippo takes a turn after skipping one day

    • If you have not posted in at least 48 hours(Cheetah Players) or skipped 2 days(Hippo Players), on your next turn you may replace one of your existing Closed Beacons from a previous turn with an Open Beacon.

Well which is it?

I said 'skip', when I should have said 'wait', but I will take this opportunity to make it even more clear than that.

I suspected it might be as intended! Reading back, sorry if I came across as overly curt.

Definitely not, I want this to stand the test of time, and put little importance on winning my own games.

Wait a minute, a feel like if I add this:

Quote
Hippo players need only skip 1 day before opening a beacon.

Then there's a way for them to wait just barely more than 24 hours.

D1: Hippo takes a turn at 22GMT. Cheetah takes a turn.
D2: Both take no turn
D3: Hippo takes a turn after GMT1. Cheetah takes a turn at 22GMT.

That's what I was avoiding.

I think the solution is, this will have to be a concession, and I'll make it one system for both. I'll make it 48 hours, as that seems to have the least "jank".

Fantastic!

It's in the patch notes, I'll integrate it into the body once Z has had a chance to chime in!
