Wierd quest
« on: October 20, 2006, 06:24:00 am »

So my latest guy (who is awesome -- Pan Kesmellofi Xemkashmezmosmik Mubo, "Pan Jadetrots the Mythical Royal Buster of Minds", Spearman) got a quest from two different towns involving a ruins. The quest was to kill one Wavyfliers the Wavyfliers. Bizzare. He's not there, by the way. I don't even know what a wavyflier is. I DID find (and kill) a skeletal swordmaster. That place was kinda hard -- zombies don't die easily to spears. Particularly copper ones.

Keep searching for high-level undead. There's probably one named Wavyflier in there somewhere.

Make sure you bring a lot of meatshields.

I mean, dealing with a single weaponmaster can be dangerous, but a horde of skeletons and zombies can kind of kill you simply by being so darn tiresome to beat down.

Ruins often have several crypts on-site, with several different levels.  You're in for a lot of exploring before you might find this guy.

I went everywhere. There is nothing left to explore. No more down stairs, no more nooks or crannies. Though it does seem odd that one side of the ruin has a 3 level dungeon while the other is only 2 level...

I had something similar happen, but I was supposed to hunt down Testprophet the Testprophet.

Then when I tried to save, my legendary shield man/Wrestler vanished. I hope the silly save file corruption is fixed eventually.

Keep searching. Monsters have a tendancy to wander around the place.
And go get a party of drunks. They'll help you in locating monsters.

And I think that save/load problem was fixed in a recent version.

I don't think these monsters actually exist. I think it may be a bug with the game confusing the monster's name and it's type. Seriously, have you ever run into a Testprophet, or a Wavyflier? They aren't creatures.

I dunno if anyone noticed, but in certain ruins there are stairs that look different from others, they dont have a "<" or ">" but instead somthing else, but I noticed that if you press < you actually go down a level when over them, maybe you came across a stairs like that and dis-missed it as being the last level??

X represents stairs that can go up or down, if that's what you're talking about.

in one of my 3 adventurers that survived the first onslaught of 5 lions and 2 giant leopards i reached a ruin with one, fought through some skeletons and zombies till i reached a gate in the south, and was busy re-killing more undead for the rest of my adventurers life, as they popped out of the front door at the same rate as icould kill them, i believe that i smashed 15 undead before blablabla the elite skeleton bowman came out and shot me

morale of the story: if you wait by the door long enough everything will pop out once

Elrond tops that like hell -.-

But seriously, who ever said you need meatshields is wrong, what you NEED is legendary ambushing which you can get by just sneaking every where you go, regardless of where you are and youll get it eventually. I took down 2 ettins(3 headed giants) on my own with rocks because they couldnt find me. It's like having a cloaking device.
