Hey NQT, does *OGW's cost reduction work post-discard? It works in the hand, so...

I don't really know what you're asking me. OGW triggers an effect when it is played and that effect means you can play anything else that turn. It doesn't reduce costs, it allows you to go into negative stars.

1+0+1+1 means he could use Frankenstien with that combo I mentioned if Cyber Dragon's cost is still 0.

When a card enters the discard pile, unless something says otherwise, all changes to their stats are undone. Otherwise, bringing a creature back from the dead wouldn't work. Cheaper-to-play effects shouldn't ordinarily be permanent. So I am ruling against this combo, sorry.

Oh, here's another question: Mata Hari's effect says it triggers "when this attacks a card." Does that include counterattacks, or does it refer only to attacks made on your turn?

Counterattacking (i.e. doing damage when another card attacks you) is never considered attacking for the purposes of any card's rule text. Attacking is always active attacks you make yourself.

Well, darn on both counts. That's a considerable nerf to the combo I had in mind.

I play—you guessed it—Frankenstein with Mata Hari, Gooper Blooper, and Crippled Genius, creating a 3* 2/10 with their combined effects:



It attacks your Battle Butler, inflicting 2 damage and converting it to my cause! Then I end my turn and do the usual.

(Is Frankenstein supposed to exile its components? I was running under the assumption that it did, but it doesn't say so on the card.)

That would have made sense. Or removed from the game, which is like exiling but more permanent. But it doesn't say that so it doesn't (maybe something to consider if it gets reviewed...)

If you read Battle Butler's description carefully you will note it applies to all maids on the field. In other words, my maids still receive its boost. I flip over both my facedown cards and attack your Frankenstein with everything I have."



Frankenstein is now at 2/2 since it is overpowered nonsense.

Oh, I knew that full well. I attack your Sleepwalking Butler Maid with my Battle Butler, killing both and ending Battle Butler's effect—which also takes out the second Sleepwalking Butler Maid! Then I play Clutch of Eggs on Frankenstein:



Two mini-Frankensteins with all its effects are created! One of them attacks your Secret Society Maid for 1, converting it. Good luck paying off your star debt now! The other attacks you directly alongside Frankenstein, pinging you for 3!

I end my turn, drawing three cards and gaining three stars per Frakenstein's effect.

It has to, right? The Battle Butler gives other Maids +3 hearts while on the field; when it leaves the field, they lose those extra hearts. A card with negative hearts is dead.

After that, I play another Clutch of Eggs on the original Frankenstein. My combined forces attack you for 5. Finally, I draw five cards and gain five stars.
