Elephant Parade vs notquitethere

The bout is awaiting a coin flip, and both of us sending a deck to another player for checking.

Do you propose any optional rules? I propose just one: each player may have a mulligan if they wish, shuffling their initial 5 cards, drawing 4 new ones, then drawing their first draw as normal.

Elephant Parade wins the flip and will go first!

Sure, that seems reasonable.

I draw my starting hand of five cards.

I'm passing on the mulligan. I draw my sixth card:

Now, down to business. I play Verdant Growth and draw two cards. Here's Verdant Growth, as if we really needed to see it at this point:

Then, I play Biodiversity, allowing me to play two more cards this turn:

Are you bored? I'm bored. Let's play some actual cards. First, Crippled Genius:

Second, Clutch of Eggs targeting Crippled Genius:

Clutch of Eggs creates two 1/1 Crippled Genius tokens with its name and effect.

I end my turn, gain three stars, draw three cards, and spit out my drink when I see what they are.

Field: Crippled Genius (0/2), Crippled Genius (1/1), Crippled Genius (1/1)
Stars: 3
Hearts: 20
Hand: 7
Discard: Biodiversity, Verdant Growth, Clutch of Eggs

Yes, I love it! I don't love you showing all your card backs at the beginning, it made me worry you'd just found a way to play five cards face down from the start.

NQT Turn 1

I don't need to mulligan, as I started with the card I wanted... which is this.

My deck has a theme but this unfortunately doesn't fit it. But I figured it was more fun than Biodiversity+Verdant Growth. So I play the first five cards with hearts in the deck (shuffling back in one card drawn without hearts):

First off, the on-play effects trigger and search my deck for two decays from the crows, then shuffle the deck. Magnetic Plant chooses your original Crippled Genius to be the designated target for all cards that require a target on play until it dies (dunno if that helps or hinders you). And Squirrel drops an Acorn face-down:

Then the murder happens! Crow attacks Plump Pigeon for 2, Plump Pigeon attacks Squirrel for 0 and is attacked back for 1. Squirrel fights the second Crow for 1 damage, and is killed. Crow kills the Magnetic Plant. Magnetic Plant does nothing because it's dead. I take 4 damage from the two crow's health.

I then sacrifice the Plump Pigeon to feed my sickliest crow for 2 health.

Field: Face-down acorn, Crow 2/2, Crow 2/3,
Stars: 0
Hearts: 16
Hand: 7
Discard: Gratuitous Harem, Squirrel, Magnetic Plant, Plump Pigeon

I'll stop doing that, then.

I start my turn and draw a card. So about those three cards I drew last turn:

I draw six cards, then play Biodiversity. It's like I can feel my soul leaving my body. Before I play any other cards, I have the original Crippled Genius bump your Crow for 0, killing it and ending Magnetic Plant's effect. Then, I play Honeycomb followed by Clutch of Eggs (targeting Honeycomb).

The three Honeycombs buff non-Honeycombs by a total of +3/+9 and each other by +2/+6, giving me a field that looks like this: Crippled Genius (4/10), Crippled Genius (4/10), Honeycomb (2/12), Honeycomb (3/7), Honeycomb (3/7).

My Crippled Genius copies take out your crows; both are left at 8 hearts. I end my turn, gaining two stars and cards from Crippled Genius's effect.

Field: Crippled Genius (4, 8/10), Crippled Genius (4, 8/10), Honeycomb (2, 12/12), Honeycomb (1, 3/7), Honeycomb (1, 3/7)
Hearts: 20
Stars: 4
Hand: 10

On the bright side, you can't have too many Verdant Growths left.

OK I play Decay, AKA the gift that keeps on giving:

Squirrel, Magnetic Plant, Plump Pigeon, Crow, and Crow are removed from the game, and the following cards are played to my field:

Field: Face-down acorn, Worm 0/1, Worm 0/1, Worm 0/1, Worm 0/1, Worm 0/1,
Stars: 0
Hearts: 16
Hand: 7
Discard: Gratuitous Harem, Decay

(I wish I'd spotted Honeycomb, that would have improved this deck concept immensely!)

Biodiversity and Verdant Growth? Yeah. They're chief in my sights at the end of the match. They're cheap in all senses. (Decay is also bust.)
