This forum doesn't need such to be haunted by one. Bay12 is a lake of unspeakable depth, haunting itself. It is old old in internet time. Really, really old. Its depth is unfathomable. It would take years upon years of time to read everything this forum has in it. We are all sitting on a gargantuan mound of memories.

I now wonder how many incredibly funny, interesting, warm and random moments are frozen in time, forgotten and buried here, under years, and decades of posts?

Just how many unique stories and simple conversations happened here, between foreign people who long since moved on or even died in time immemorial, before our time here. Their words seem final and distant like faint, passing echoes, and they are, infinitely so in the temporal sense. They are merely preserved snapshots of time. Those people were here, and are gone now. Their profile pictures, links in their signatures, heck, sometimes even their very presence here are all defunct. Gone.

I wonder how much older it'll all get. Will it survive after we all had moved on too? Will the future forumites of Bay12 look upon my posts (hell, maybe even this post?!) and think the same about me as I do about the posts of old users?

Ugh, I am now all lost in semantics about the age of this place, again.

Man, Domain of The Toad is super ancient.

how the fuck does a lake haunt something? Like a dam reservoir, vaguely threatening to burst free?

When you dry a lake, does it not leave a residue in the world? A depression in the area, the smell of rot on hot days, an area of highly fertile soil?

Your mistake is in thinking that a lake's ghost would be like a phantom.

Maybe it's a dry lake bed filled with ghosts?

Look at that title and learn, Magma. Now this is a title that you instantly recognize as a Novel original. It makes the reader feel lost in a maze of riddles. Lakes don't haunt, but if it has an unspeakable depth you almost start to believe that it could. But how would it possibly haunt the forum? Do lakes have an agenda? Do things that are sort of like ghosts have an agenda? What do words mean? Do I even exist?

Practice more and one day you might master the art, too.

How deep exactly does something need to be to have unspeakable depth?
