Spoiler: World Map (click to show/hide)

The gods awake to see their faithful steed rising from the ancient wellspring, a massive beast carrying an entire region upon it's back. As it climbs forth from the realm of mana, born of the same magics as the gods themselves, each of the divine families lay claim to portions of the beast. Here they plant their seeds, civilizations that will grow and blossom into proper empires. This miniature world of theirs already so strange, the gods place their roots close to eachother, gravitating towards the northwest section of their divine kingdom. The lands around the godbeast are a fair forest, ripe with wood and game. Ancient ruins mark your cradle, remnants of a civilization long past, worshipers of magic and other older gods. Perhaps their descendants still live nearby.

Maroon Team

The Abcubi appear from the demonic contamination that had seeped into the wellspring, the magics of the demon realm mixing with the primal plane, creating both the Abcubi and their divine relatives, C’thun and Caporegime. They immediate found themselves among the fungal forests clinging to the edge of the godbeast. Strange cream colored mushtrees rose high above the heads of the Abcubi, adorned with blue caps. They would make for a good wood replacement. Another giant mushroom, orange and pink in color, was found to be moderately for wood, with small gills that are passably edible. Large red mushrooms can be found in one area of the kingdom, and seem to a good source of food, but are difficult to collect. Tall purple and blue mushrooms can be found in the north, but only seem barely useful for wood.

This area is strange and not well understood. It's likely there is much that is not immediately apparent about the mushroom forest, and some research into the various types of mushrooms might yield more information. Similarly, the mushwoods are dense and mysterious, much could be gleaned by exploration, though, such a task is not without danger.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

White Team

The Jargons appear to the south of the Abcubi, straddled between the northwestern corner of the mountain range and a massive lake. The jar-gons, golem-like beings composed of jars which house their souls, find the area to be rather pleasant for the most part. To the west is a deep cave, which is a decent source of stone, however without exploring it, its unclear what may lie deeper within. Still a large amount of stone litters the beach nearby the cave. Others turn to the forest, a very good source of wood, though the east beach also has a small supply of palm wood. Little can be found on the southwest beach however.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Green Team

The Elysians appear amid a thick jungle, their eyes wide in the green twilight beneath the forest canopy. Much of their land was covered in dense forest, good sources of wood. Others found an massive tree stump of incredible proportions, providing some food and some wood. Though a few did make their way eastward and located a beach, which has no resources.

Convulsing slightly, Orderly Builder sprints to the south-eastern coast of white territory and starts hammering together some housing for the Jar-gon.

"Houses, houses! The people cry out for houses, and the gods answer! Let these humble domiciles stretch to the heavens, sparking an eternal movement!"

Panoptic Rendering Entity - Purpose
A cylindrical machine of indeterminably complex function hummed as it went from silence to the low hum of life. From an opening in its side, hundreds of tiny glowing shapes, spirit flies, infinitesimal fragments of the very being of the Deus Ex Machina that had just come online. They flowed over the area that her family had claimed, before spiraling back into the machine. Then, Purpose awoke.

She studied the data that had been gathered, and it was not pretty. Few resources were available to them. While the Jar-Gon would be able to survive for some time on merely the power that had created them, that would not last, and it would take time for them to begin gathering food in sufficient quantities. Similarly, the space they would need in order to begin food production was partially taken up by housing, meaning they would not be able to farm without investing time researching the subject. The cave in their territory may prove to hold something useful, and if not, would be able to make adequate housing, however doing so would require that Purpose not spend any of the little mana available to her on Research and Development. There was another option, however. She contacted her siblings.

Code: [Select]
Proposal: send portion of population to north-eastern body of water to claim area and begin collection of fish.

Proposal: Multiple research proposals in conflict due to lack of mana.
1. Invest Shared Mana(1) in research of stone bridges, allowing future colonization of nearby island.
2. Invest Shared Mana(1) in research of space-efficient food production, mitigating the issue created by lack of available space.
3. Invest Shared Mana(1) in research of dedicated Hunter-Gatherer unit specialized in the collection of food from explored territory.

This night, a Jar had a certain dream.

In the darkness of a nightmare, robbed of its body, it was sinking in a lake of ink.
A suffocating, warm darkness embraced it, dragging it down into a bottomless abyss.
Then there was a hole in the darkness, and the Jar couldn't help but behold it.
"So beautiful, so dreadful" shuddered the soul.

"O fathomless hole, darker than any abyss? What do you see beyond the dark?"

The Jar understood then
Part of an unsaid truth.
Then there was a flash.

When the Jar awoke it was no longer able to see or feel, for it had sacrificed its mortal senses to awaken the eye of its soul.

Maloroth's Actions:
1) Elevate a Jargoon into a Hero (2 Maroon)

Quote
Hero Name: Ime the Jarless, First Disciple of the Soul Eye
Mana Type: Maroon (2)
Physical Description: Once a Jargoon blessed with the colour of Maroon mana, all that remains of its old vessel is an orb of molten slag in the form of an eye, inside of which is housed the spiritual form of Ime. Its spiritual arm has been replaced with several spiritual tendrils, which it uses to manipulate objects as well as the body it constructed around its new vessel.
Lore and Additional Information: Ime is the first disciple of Maloroth, chosen thanks to its strong connection to the spiritual realm. It saw a glimpse of the Eyeless in a nightmare and was reborn into a new vessel, in the process losing its feelings and false sight in order to gain the ability to truly see.
Ability and Effect:
- Spirit Eye of Maloroth: The unit is able to see the unseen, granting it enhanced scouting and detection abilities. In a pinch, the unit may send terrifying visions to a target.
- Spirit-Walking: The unit is able to cross the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds, allowing it to explore the spirit realm.
- Eloquent Corrupter: The unit is able to corrupt populations into becoming disciples of the Soul Eye. Corruption can be forced by injecting Maroon mana into an unwilling target.
Ability Functionality:
- The Spirit Eye of Maloroth is born from Maroon corruption of the principle that loss of a sense cause the remaining ones to improve to compensate the loss. By this principle, the removal of all senses heightens a hidden sense, thus increasing perception beyond natural means. The vision sending aspect is a simple projection of Maroon mana to overload the mind of the target.
- Corruption is born from the nature of Maroon mana. It is carried by the voice of the corrupted hero, and can be forced through injection of Maroon mana.

2) Command Unit: Send the Hero to explore the western cave

3) Place its remaining Maroon mana into the collective pool

Orderly, with their other arm hastily hammering an iron stake into a stone block, draws a series of lines together from the Orange, weaving and measuring into a blueprint of sorts, depicting a... pot.

"Oh dear, oh dear. Time is of the essence. And I haven't even started thinking about volunteers!"

Acter finally rushes out of the White halls of the workshop, holding what appears to be an slightly-altered version of Orderly's blueprint.
"Where's a good candidate, where- aha!"

Where mortals go, there will be gambling. And where gambling goes, there will be those who know the ins and outs of probability and fate.

One gambling Jar-gon in particular - Jomon - was about to find themselves much more familiar with the details than they ever thought possible.

Quote
Hero Name: Jomon, the Hero of Chance
Mana Type: 1 Orange + 1 Blue
Physical Description: A Jar-gon overtaken by a shimmer of mana rippling over their porcelyn surface. The orange and blue strands weave together into an unspeakable color enmeshed with its spirit-hand, flashing intermittently with glimpses of consequence itself. Much could be learned from these, if you could think faster than time which is very fast indeed.
Lore and Additional Information: By very carefully injecting Orange in its chaos/change state stabilized by just enough Blue knowledge to comprehend it, we hope to create a being better able to navigate the turmoil of reality's twists and turns, as well as accomplishing some moderate manipulation of assorted otherwise-abstracted activities.
Abilities and Effects:
-See Fate (The ability to sense probability and hopefully understand it, allowing one to better measure their own actions in terms of success and failure.)
-Defy Fate (A more intensive power, once the weave of fate is Seen and Sealed, it may be Sliced Apart, making the inevitable quite evitable indeed.)
-Interpolate (Not all of fate is set in stone, or even particularly important; many small events lie between the great ones that fate pays true attention to. In these spaces, probability can be twisted much more freely, permitting a bevy of arcane-seeming "spellcraft" by careful manipulation of reality at the quantum level.)
Ability Functionality: We hypothesize that all reactions are the result of two things: consequence, and dice. The former cannot be so easily dissuaded, but can be seen quite clearly with the indenture of Power to Understand Change (blue-orange). Dice meanwhile are impossible to predict, but can be more easily bribed with an offering of Mana.

"Right, so. Jomon! Congratulations, the power of statistics is now at your fingertips! Or, uh. Something like that. This is half Orderly's blessing, I'm still not 100% sure how it works. But it's within acceptable bounds for statistical significancy!
So, ah, with your magic probability powers, I decree that you should go explore the coasts! Who knows, maybe you'll find a shipwreck, or massive food source, or garden of pearls, or whatever else that may be - eheh - lucky.
Godspeed, Jomon!
"

We're putting our free housing on the "grassland" tile I will henceforth refer to as D2.

We have achieved no further consensus.

Purpose registered the unfortunately limited input, she would thus be the deciding factor. She analyzed her own proposals in comparison to the current situation. The bridges would prove useful in time, but they would offer little towards the food problem until after it had already ceased to be a significant problem. That left Hunter-Gatherer's and Space-Efficient Food Production. To decide that, she analyzed what research they already had. In reality, though they took up quite a large space, the gardens were quite effective all things told. They could certainly be improved, but improving them in such a way that would resolve their core issues would only introduce other similar flaws. A unit dedicated to collecting food, however, would be able to make the most of what they already have. And so, she set to her studies. Meanwhile, her soul-swarm guided a group of their people to new lands. Or rather, new water.

Send 10 citizens to the water off of the north-eastern tile of Jar-Gon territory to claim the tile.

Quote from: Active Research
Research Target
Name: Hunter-Gatherers
Mana Contributed: 1 White
Target Difficulty: 2-3
Target Description: An alternative form of Spearman. Carrying large baskets upon their backs and using the insides of their own jars as additional storage space, these Jar-Gon are focused on the collection of food above all else, though aren't discouraged from collecting other materials if they have the space. Due to not being a dedicated combat unit, there are several fewer of them in each unit.
Key Points: Spearman, hunting, resource gathering

Halgek
I'm spending 2 maroon mana researching something which I'll be placing in this spoiler. It's a class hero and that's all I'll be spilling. We'll also be placing a Prowling Grounds on the orange mushroom tile to the left of the Grassland, referred to as D1 from now on.

C’thun is silent, save for a few giggles here and there as he works his magic.

Name: Super Evil Forbidden Mushroom Construction Techniques

Mana Type: Maroon

Description what the technology is: A set of divinely granted instructions that tell the Abcubi how to best use the mushrooms to efficiently build different things. Only a slight chance of the mushroom coming alive and crying blood, I swear!

Description of what the technology does: Basically, It helps us construct better using mushrooms, and makes it more efficient then using normal materials. Mushroom buildings are especially attuned to maroon mana and very stable. May come alive, who knows, certainly not me. Haha…

Mana Investment: 2 Maroon

Green Team Actions, as decided on by Discord Consensus

-Train two units of Hunters
-Place Initial Housing on claimed beach
-Research the following Three projects (Mana Spending: 3 Green, 2 Black, 1 Maroon)

Quote
Name: Wooden Bungalows
Mana Type: Presumably None
Description what the technology is: A large but low house with sloping rooves, ideal for relaxation and partying.
Description of what the technology does: Support a larger and happier population than wooden huts via being larger, better built, and more luxurious.
Underlying technology: Wooden Huts
Mana Investment: 1G
Research Difficulty: 3-4 (+2)

Quote
Name: Improved Hunting Grounds
Mana Type: Death/Life?
Description what the technology is: A series of improvements to our hunters and their techniques to ensure easier kills and better yields from kills whilst still retaining the ecological preservation of our current techniques. Stemming from improved tending of the hunting grounds to better support wildlife, mapping the region out thoroughly to make it harder for prey to hide in and balancing kill numbers to ensure prey numbers are left relatively intact
Description of what the technology does: Improved Hunting Ground Yields
Underlying technology: Hunting Grounds
Mana Investment: One Black, One Green
Research Difficulty: 5-6

Quote from: Class Hero
Class Name: Idol
Mana Type: 1 Green, 1 Black, 1 Maroon
Class  Description: Famous Elysian performers who have mastered the arts of music, entertainment, and the interactions of complex systems. They bring joy and focus to others, and serve as role models and general problem solvers.
Mana Relationship: Idols channel their mana types through song and an understanding of how disparate forces interact.
Class Lore: Idols are unusually talented musicians and entertainers who have mastered the use and blending of all three major Elysian music forms- the harmonious folk music of the natural world, the intense metal of death, and the energetic pop of the demonic. They arise naturally from talent, hard work, and the adulation of their fans.
Class Abilities: Exceedingly charismatic, able to delight and persuade, but also lead and plan. An Idol's mastery over rhythm, synergy, and the underlying nature of things makes them adept at understanding and influencing complex situations, and they are famous for breaking out into song to lead troubled or infighting groups to prosperity and cooperation.
Class Appearance: Most idols are incredibly beautiful, and all capture attention easily. They tend to dress in fur/feathers/teeth? for the folk music, tight leather and ripped clothes for the metal (maybe some chains or something?), and ribbons and frills for the pop.

The Elysians looked up in awe at their god. A magnificent black dragon, eyes glowing with radioactive might.

"Now once the prey is cornered, the trick-"

Abruptly the rabbit darted, and Uraninite followed suit, shoving his entire snout into the hollow log the rabbit had dashed for.

The Elysians waited patiently as the rabbit scrambled on top through a knothole. Uraninite's tongue thrashed about at the other end of the log, before retracting and slithering up through the rabbit's escape hatch. The furtive prey animal eyed the passive Elysians warily, shifting only slightly to avoid Uraninite's seeking appendage.

After a few tense moments of shuffling, the rabbit finally made a break for it. Uraninite lunged alongside it, careening into a stand of trees wearing the log as a muzzle, then rolling upright and stampeding after the poor bunny with his innumerable legs.

Perseverance. Flexibility. Confidence in one's superiority. The Elysians were learning a lot more about how to be hunters than an outsider observer might give them credit for.

Plus, it was funny.
