The OOBs can be circumvented with customisation, at least.

Turn ETA about 30 minutes. Or however long it takes to process this time.

Goddamn I'm angry with that suicidal commander. Found him quietly leading some backwater brigade tasked with clearing the alien infestation. It was literally his first battle in his new command. Had the potential to become the next Astro Chambers. Even gave him a dopaminator. >:-(
What a dick. If he were still alive I'd execute him for dying on me like that.

Ugh. That turn was such a mess. I probably made some grave errors, but superficially I've sorta kinda vaguely restored the status quo ante, and absolutely nothing else. Well, except for SO much domestic micromanaging, sigh.

Also, the front lines are turning into a radioactive hellscape, which is fun. If a couple of those hexes have more pitched battles they may hit rad levels where even vehicles won't protect troops from dying off...

That can't be good for our brave burghers.

Overall, it was worse for our soulless bureaucrats.

(There was also a large, extremely anticlimactic air raid that did nothing but burn ammo.)

[Is Hornstein still throwing medium armor formations at the Grogs? There doesn't seem to be any limit to how many they have to throw at me. Fewer infantry, more tanks. They're not proving terribly effective, but there's always more of them.]

Eh. I was so happy with those little salients of mine. All they did is cost me 5k burgher lives.
And now there's gonna be renewed paratrooping operations in my backyard. :(

Yeah. This is unsustainable. I'm not a happy camper this turn.

Welcome to my world; I've felt like this is unsustainable ever since the Grease Nation attacked.

Having said that, it did feel nice for once to have a turn where I could reinforce existing units instead of desperately raising new ones, deploy some tech I'd been sitting on for a while, and still have enough resources left to shunt some off to bolster industrial development.

I'm 90% sure I forgot something important, but I have no idea what it would be, so I'll go ahead and submit.

I really don't know what you're talking about. I've been banging my head against a wall of superior troops from day one.

Quantity has its own quality; you started the war with ~2x more regulars than me and while I've been on a constant crash mobilization to catch up, you're still ahead of me. You've been consistently inflicting significantly more casualties on me than I have in return this whole time as well. I've also only lost ground. There's one or two other things that have made my position feel unsustainable, but I don't want to name them for fear of them getting worse.

Funny how we both can feel like we're losing, then.

For reference, a stripped-down casualty chart. Note the earlier spike was when Hornstein attacked my 3 far-flung satrapies and killed off three zones worth of militia before I managed to stand up a disconnected 2SHQ and grind them to a halt after losing one of the three cities:

(I definitely learned from our last game, so compared to that I'm sure this feels a lot worse on your end. My situation doesn't feel as hopeless as that did, but it's not inspiring confidence.)

You did not include a scale. But, judging by the combat reports, it looks pretty much the same as mine - if not lower. My peak is 7k.

I suppose I'm not hiding useful intel by not including labels. The pic is updated. My peak is 11.9k. So by a rough count from that chart, I've lost a bit under 52k troops since the war started. That's not completely accurate b/c I'm eyeballing it and it also includes my (much lower) Hornstein and independent losses, but looking at casualties inflicted, it appears I've inflicted (very roughly) ~30k across all your model types.

[Re: combat reports, if you mean the number at the start of your turn, remember that that's only the deaths/casualties that happen outside of your turn. The bulk of your disproportionate killing has occurred when you attacked me during your turns, so they'll show up in my start-of-turn numbers, not yours.]

[Oooooh, wait, you do text battle reports, right? THAT's what you mean. ><]

Honestly, those casualties of yours must be either Hornstein doing its part, or the occasional cannon-fodder militia inflating the numbers. I'm just not feeling the advantage here.
Or maybe I'm just colour-blind like that. It's entirely possible.

In the meantime, I should probably welcome a whole new world of pain:

The reason you're not feeling an advantage isn't b/c you haven't been cutting us down like so much wheat to make buns with, it's b/c roughly half of Buracon's human resources have been requisitioned, transferred into a suit of battledress, forced to sign for a laser rifle, and strategically repositioned onto the front line.

Aye. And you do have a lot of eager new citizens. Ex-Hornsteinian or otherwise. Whereas we burghers have to rely on getting frisky in bed to manage the combat losses.
