I don't know about ineffective - losing half a battalion per strike kinda hurts.
But not as much as losing 180 planes to paratroopers.

oof. Feels like I'd need about three times my economy to support this war.

(Mhhmyeah. Mistakes were made. I really should think more about every move.)

I've been overthinking my every move, waffling and wavering before every button-press, and I'm still pretty sure I've made grievous errors every turn. And yeah, I feel that economy statement.

(Oh, joy. Someone discovered Plasma Guns! At least it'll be probably 10 turns before there's any chance of seeing those...)

I'm not sure it's effective, but definitely interesting.

Looks kinda like your own, no? Maybe shorter range.

The guns are in some absurd future, considering the 'you should have done it before the war' backlog I need to clear first.
The mind profile has finally started to pay off a few turns back, as I've been getting the 'breakthrough now!' faction stratagems semi-consistently. The corp, on the other hand, has so far given me nothing.

They're roughly comparable to (but worse than) my small thopters, yeah. They're not nearly as good as my mediums, but you haven't seen those yet. In any case, they're the most advanced aircraft I've seen the AI build. I just wonder if they're gonna use them for anything besides really haphazard bombing missions.

Corp hasn't given me much this game - just some crowd control strats. They might have given me a manager, too; I can't remember.

I probably made at least 1 catastrophic mistake this turn. I really want an extra model design council...

QMGs fill the same TOE slots. Once assigned, though, they cannot be swapped. You have to remove them (or the MGs) to replace them with the other kind.

So I've gotta ask, even if you don't have to answer: what does Astro Chambers actually look like? The numbers he's putting up are INSANE, and don't really make sense based on the limited info provided by the UI.


Yes, that's average-based, but I (non-exhaustively) poked through the detailed results, and while most of the e.g. infantry HP after mods were in the 2500-4500 range, the full range I saw was 1400-16000.

[His bonus was in the +1000% range when I followed up in CQC, but it looked like that was mostly b/c he gave attack bonuses in that case as well...]

Around 100 in all combat skills. No 6th sense.
I don't know how those numbers work. I see escape artist giving a huge bonus. Maybe it's multiplicative in some non-obvious fashion and the maths actually adds up.

I worked through it multiplicatively and it might. This is the black box/black magic part of the mechanics, so I can't say for sure.

Oh, don't forget to rename your Quarter Pounders or whatever the QMGs are supposed to be.

Ah, yes. At some point I made a list of things to do lest I forget them by the time the next turn rolls out. But I sometimes forget to read the list. Hence the missile launchers and now the QMGs with generic names. I've been contemplating adding a 'read the list' item to the list but I'm not sure it will do any good...
Quarter pounder is a good name, though. I'll probably steal it.

I know at some point a patch reduced the effect of high skill leaders on the combat bonus, but you can still pull some big numbers with high capacity leaders. Sometimes I wish I could attach more support units to my OHQs, but then I look at stuff like that and go :O

(Probably about 10 hrs until I get the turn out for you thread watchers out there)

I'm in no hurry. Turns are taking a long time at this point, and I have plenty of SP to distract me ATM (which isn't as exciting, but also isn't as nerve-wracking).

Yeah, no. All my combat stats have been dumped in favour of the 'couch potato' category.

Now, guess who forgot to make extra ammo and now can't be bothered to redo the turn? This guy. Will we need those bullets next turn? Let's hope not.

At least the planes are falling down proper this time, to my fleet of glorified WWII kites.
Although I've no idea what's actually going on. How many planes did I down in total? Is the replay showing me where the target of an air bridge was? Where it was intercepted? (both, I think?) Or why these air bridges keep failing and the first one EA so cheekily made didn't (I think the amount of air defence back then wasn't that dissimilar to what I have now).
