I see it. It's not relevant to the discussion of your waifu only genning one instead of two.

I'm not actually sure if you can target face down cards with Firebase but I guess its worth a try right?

One cannot target facedowns apparently. Only widespread effects do that.

I think we’re also waiting on a ruling on if the artillery can target face down cards.

They cannot. But a facedown card cannot prevent your opponent from being attacked directly.

Why would I be unable to use it? It does something so it automatically flips back over, per the rules. I don't see how that would possibly fail to happen.
My Firebae kills your Pacifist Wife by its effect. My Ghost kills your Refinery. My Naglfar attacks you directly. Then I play this on Firebae:

It loses its ability which, among other things, prevents it from attacking. It hasn't attacked this round yet, so it attacks you directly for what's left of your HP.

Can I flip it at the beginning and use its effect, then? I don't see any rules for when cards get flipped that would allow a non-attacking card to ever flip face-up otherwise.

For most cards that would work, however the Firebase card states that the effect triggers at the start of your turn. After you draw a card and then flip the card, it would no longer be the start of your turn so you wouldn't be able to do that again until your next turn, barring any other complications.

Okay, I'll just flip it, use Gateless Gate, and attack the wife so that Naglfar can still direct attack. Stirk's down to four hearts.
