To organize PMs as a little thread, make sure to change your options in Profile > Modify Profile > Personal Messaging.
Display Personal Messages: As a conversation.
Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default: on.
Finally, when sending messages, use the Reply to All button at the bottom of the page.

Spoiler: hat mafia rules! (click to show/hide)

There are two mafia. The rest of the players begin as town.
Mafia may communicate through forum PMs. Make sure to cc me!
Mafia win when the number of living mafia players equals or exceeds living town players.
Town win when all mafia players are eliminated.
Town who acquire the Murder Crown have their alignment changed to Mafia Ally. These players win and lose with the Mafia, but otherwise act as townies.

One Mafia begins with the Murder Crown.
The other Mafia begins with one of the three Town Power Hats. Note that Town Power Hats cannot be used by Mafia.
Two townies each begin with one of the remaining two Town Power Hats.
One townie begins with the Ghastly Gibus.
The remaining townies begin with one generic hat each.

During the night, you may use one of the abilities granted by your hats, if you have any, or you may perform one of the following three actions:
Mug: Select a player. You steal a random hat from that player, unless they Turtle. If other players Mug the same player as you, you learn their names and a random mugger wins the ensuring brawl, taking one hat from everyone involved.
Graverob: Select a hat which belonged to a dead player. You steal it. If other players attempt to Graverob the same hat, it goes to a random one of you and you learn their names.
Turtle: You cannot be Mugged. You learn the name of whoever attempts to Mug you.

Mugging and Graverobbing are corrupt actions. If more than half the alive players use corrupt actions, the Murder Crown will Awaken.
The Awakened Murder Crown gains the ability to Mafiakill one random player if it's owner performs a different action, and will immediately jump to a random player if its current host dies.

Regardless of your alignment, if you possess four hats at once, you immediately win and everyone else loses. All hail the Hat Tyrant!
If the day begins and one or more players currently possess three hats, all players will be informed that it is currently HATLO.

Murder Crown
A pure golden crown with a menacing aura. The one who wears it sees visions of the Hat Baron and is filled with a murderous rage...
If your alignment is Town, it becomes Mafia Ally permanently upon obtaining this hat.
Mafiakill: Select a Player. That player dies at night.
If more than half of living players perform the Mug or Graverob actions, the Crown Awakens, automatically Mafiakilling a random player when you perform a different night action, and automatically attaching itself to a random player should you die.

Police Cap
A blue cap with a badge on its front. The bill shades your eyes, helping you focus.
If your alignment is Mafia, this hat shall deny you its power.
Inspect: Select a Player. You learn that player's alignment as of the morning.

Doc's Bowler
A black bowler hat. Its hard, yet soft felt bolsters your confidence.
If your alignment is Mafia, this hat shall deny you its power.
Heal: Select a Player. That player is safe from Mafiakill this night.

Vigilante's Beanie
A worn-down yellow wool beanie. Years of caked sweat drips down your head, filling you with a grim sense of duty.
If your alignment is Mafia, this hat shall deny you its power.
Vigkill: Select a Player. That player dies at night.

Ghastly Gibus
An utterly dilapidated and shameful top hat. Only the truly desperate would wear this. Yet, it possesses an odd power within...
If you target another player with a night power, or another player targets you, that player obtains a copy of this hat.
No player may possess more than one copy of this hat. If you would obtain an additional copy through any means, that copy is instantly deleted.

Frilly Hat
A pink ladies' hat, adorned with delicate frills.
No special properties.

Froggy Hat
A green hood marked with a frog's face.
No special properties.

Cowboy Hat
A beige Stetson, battered by dust and bullets.
No special properties.

Yeah, not thrilled with the PM thing, but it is what it is.
I've been doing my best to promote our best possible win condition, and it seems to be working pretty well.

The reason this is our best possible win condition: SOMEBODY gave all the townies distinguishable hats, so all it takes is for someone to say "let's all claim our hats" and, if all the town tell the truth, A) any lying mafia is narrowed down to a pair (the duplicates), or a trio if both mafia decide to give the same lie for some silly reason; and B) if the mafia with the town power hat (ie, you) tells the truth, which is the smarter choice, you're still narrowed down to one of three. So by the mafia-hatter claiming a null town hat and the town-hatter claiming truthfully, it's narrowed to the best case scenario of 5. (If we both decided to claim the same hat, both of us would be in only three, which would be suicidal.) Town me would, of course, have instantly pointed this out. I tried to acknowledge it enough for towncred without making it clear what the actual method would be.
Incidentally, we could also get it narrowed down to four, where the best way to do that is for one of us to claim the vig hat (it doesn't actually have to be you, but it probably should be, otherwise if you die it'll be really obvious I'm the other liar), and the other to claim another power hat.
Worse, you have the vig hat, which is the most provable of all hats. Since you can't use it, if you claimed it, you would have to pretend you vigged my kill. A clever town, at least, would not take any other excuses; if I were town, in this scenario, I'd pick a null-hat claimer to sacrifice and demand you vig him, essentially locking down the mafiakill for up to three turns to keep the charade going. And it'd look pretty unconvincing by the third time. Frankly, I'd argue that it's better to lynch you after the FIRST mis-vig, just in case, and then have someone cleared by the claiming graverob the hat. If that weren't enough, in the case that the other mafia (in this case, me) claimed one of the null hats too, I'd specifically demand that you vig in that pair, thus inherently outing one or the other of us.
In conclusion, we're lucky that people are signing on to the mafia win and you should go ahead and get people started voting no lynch.

By the way, although you can't use the vig hat, your having it means the town loyalists cannot stop us now that we have two confirmed traitors. You can just keep turtling forever.

Either things end up chaotic, or Lenglon figures out how to break the game Day 1. Not sure which yet.

The fact that there's both a mafiakill and a vig-kill and the doctorhat only protects against the mafiakill means this game will probably be pretty lethal, pretty fast.

Oh, yeah. Sorry Egan but the fact that a town player is guaranteed to start with the Ghastly Gibus is exploitable, isn't it?
