How will people keep a grip in the future?
« on: August 24, 2022, 08:39:57 am »

As we head into a overpowered, extremely varied future... how are people going to keep a grip?

We all want a absurdly stimulating life. Always will. Our sanity may disagree in the end, though.

You could argue that the future where we all survive is the one where we hit a technological plateau of some kind. And yet... people are still going to do their best to make it, absurdly stimulating.

Thoughts?

We're already in a technological plateau.
No new tech has been made in like 5+ years.
Everything we may think is new was around in some limited fashion in the past. This ain't the 90's when computers were introduced to homes, or the 00's when cellphones proliferated, or even the 10's when smartphones spread.

I see VR sets in commercials, but nobody I know is using them. It's not new tech, nor do we have internet hooked up to it yet?

Edit: Although, the expected rolling out of VR might have stalled due to unexpected mass poverty. The tech is about 8 years old, and the companies that worked to develop it probably never predicted the bad economic conditions we have now.

I haven't bothered with VR because I know once I dump the hundreds into a set up, I'll probably spend like two hours messing with it, go "huh that's neat," and then I never touch it again.

Problem is there's precious little useful shit that's actually improved with VR.

We're already in a technological plateau.
Nah, we're still working on stuff it's just less in-your-face than improving your PC.

Like right now we've got work going on senolytics, which if successful should reduce aging-related complications and keep us healthier for a longer part of our life, if not extend it.

And as mentioned in the Happy Thread, the Artemis program is kicking off now because China wants to go to the moon and the US is feeling a bit embarrassed that they could be beaten back there. We're definitely gonna see stuff come out of that.

I generally find making a fist around something works well.

You need to make a claw shape, wrap your hand around it and it'll cut your hand so you need a little air pocket between your skin and the sharp end.

If that fails, unscrew the pommel and end them rightly.

But what if the future is greasy and it slips from their hands?

But what if the future is greasy and it slips from their hands?

Then they have to scold the future and say he's a very naughty boy.
