All my dwarves are female. Is it supposed to be so, because different genders are not implemented, or it's a bug, or my RNG is too one-sided?

Maybe I did something wrong.  If we're talking about just 7 dwarves, that isn't too unlikely, but if it's all the dwarves ever, then something is probably up.  The genders should be up and running.  Is this happening to other people?

I have at least 1 male in my cave, so it's probably just .5^7 fun.

That's a less than 1% chance...  maybe there's something biasing it towards females, a blip in the random number generator or somesuch?

dunno, my last group was 6 guys 1 girl.  maybe it has lots of strings of hi/los....

How do you tell the gender of a dwarf? I'm using the "thoughts and preferences" screen that appears through v-p-z. It refers to all dwarves as "she". Maybe it's only that screen that is buggy?

[vpz] is the only way I can think of now.  It used to show the little gender symbols in more places, and demon asked me to put that back.  Has this all been one group, or have you been consistently getting women all the time you've been playing the game?  You can misread that...  it's late.

You know, the pregnancy code just checks to see if there's a guy around.  You might be in for some trouble if everybody doesn't die.

One of my males has been sleeping in the same bed as one of my females. I think I'm going to be getting some new dwarves soon, besides the immigrants.

so toady, is it possible to play on a 'no migration' map and eventually populate through sheer dwarven reproduction?

what's the birth-->workable adult timeline like anyway?

I can tell you that there's a slightly related oddity with adventure mode; about 80-90% of the time when I get to the part where I can choose a gender/name for my adventurer, it's a girl to begin with.  Sometimes the adventurer starts male, but only very occasionally.

Well at a 0.78125% chance it's going to happen sooner or later. It is only 1/128 odds. Thinks about how many forts people have made. Statistically speaking it should happen. In the old version people probably got all male or all female dwarves but just didn't notice because how many here actually check all of their dwarves when they start out? Other then the occasional favorite most aren't going to bother because it doesn't make much of a difference.
