You head for the bedroom and lay down on the bed. You communicate to your wetware chip the desire to sleep for 30 minutes or so.

1236USY.4d/1m.1017h

You wake up from the nap, take a deep breath and stretch for several moments.

You feel better than before.

You check with the sensors station, but the entirety of Beta Carotenii is empty of starships.

A) Well, time to resume that bartending article!
B) Well, time to resume reading the SRC manual!
C) How about some Captain Zirconius?

Zirconius!
Flying the invicible Hyperion!
Stamping out corruption!
Fixing the wrongs of the galaxy!
For the glory of the Federation!
ZIRCONIUUUS!

The theme of the series is extremely cliche, you have to note after hearing its blaring horns and trumpets once again.

1236USY.4d/1m.1035h

The date is 666 United Space Year. A flotilla of unidentified starships emerges near the position of Hyperion-3, which was busy analysing the debris from the fight between itself and the Pink Galleon, the flagship of now-deceased Crime Lord Xusxus. Soon, Hyperion-3 is hailed and Crown Prince Borellion shows up. In a short speech, he mocks Zirconius and tells him that whilst he is grateful for removing the ever-quarreling Xusxus out of the picture, he can't let Zirconius go--

BWAH. BWAH.
BWAH. BWAH.
BWAH. BWAH.

You perk up, hearing an alarm that you haven't heard before.

The volume is obviously of cautionary level, rather than a full alert, but the tone itself is rather menacing.

A) To the command center!
B) Whatever it is, it can wait, like, 30 minutes, no?

You quickly make your way to the command center, trying to discern which console is sound the alert.

It is security console.

A yellow alert has been issued by the sensors.

Quote
POSSIBLE IMPACT EVENT == CAUTIONARY ALERT:

Uncatalogued Asteroid (approx.radius: 0.12ks, approx.range to target: 999.6ks, approx.composition: 98.9% ice) has been detected on a probable collission course with Outpost 254831, heading from within the inner Beta Carotenii system.

Probability of impact: 13.5% as of 1236USY.4d/1m.1035h

Estimated impact time window: 1236USY.4d/1m.2000h | 1236USY.4d/1m.2010h

Impact probability alert logged for transmission to the regional SRC Headquarters with the daily automated subspace radio ping at 1800 hours.

Security console lists several options for you:

A) Ignore the alert completely.
B) Maintain active scan of approaching asteroid (it will continue to issue alerts every 15 minutes with updated data)
C) Activate photon torpedo launchers and direct fire against the asteroid now (although the console warns the accuracy is very low at current range)
D) Put the alert on hold until it get closer (the console offers to repeat the alert at 1800h today)

B
Although decidedly annoying, we'll want data updates so we can decide what to do when it gets close enough to do anything about.
We should probably take our datapad or whatever we're reading on into the console room so we don't have to get up every 15 minutes.

You decide to move the datapads to the command room, where you decide to stay in for now.

You set the console to maintain a scan of the asteroid and give you updates every 15 minutes.

You resume reading Captain Zirconius, Chapter 4.

The battle occurs and while Hyperion-3 is able to shoot down several fighterships of the Crime Prince Borellion, his flagship, the Esmeralda, scores several hits on Hyperion, deactivating its targeting systems--

You look at the security console.

Estimated impact time window remains the same (1236USY.4d/1m.2000h | 1236USY.4d/1m.2010h)

You continue reading.

A, and check how far away the asteroid is & missile accuracy at that range - has accuracy improved? Could we shoot the thing down?
Well it looks like the impact probability is decreasing, that's nice. Might be... interesting explaining to our potential customers that "oh, if you hear an alarm, there's an asteroid projected to maybe hit this place in a few hours"
