"I was meaning to ask, could we stay in touch over the subspace somehow?" Maria smiles.

"Of course, you can always send an encrypted message addressed to me. The Gate stations will direct it through subspace and through normal space, to my ship, based on my location."

"Something more... real-time was on my mind." Both she and Elim giggle.

"Real-time communications through multiple systems? No, my spaceship is not big enough to possess such a communications' station on board."

"Some merchant vessels and luxury ships have them, but real-time communications over multiple systems is mostly military or government controlled. Most police stations can send holo-transmissions to holovid capable stations, for example, across a Jump Gate, or two, if the signal is strong enough."

"Ah yes, I had a talk with Poseidonis Fedpol some days ago, that checks out."

"You might find a merchant who could sell you a Subspace Caster that powerful, but I'm pretty sure it would take a small fortune to buy it." Maria explains and you hum in consternation, remembering you have basically zero funds, unless you want to dip into your monthly earnings.

"For most people around, it's the physical. Record a chip, send it via delivery people, wait for reply. Takes a few days." Elim's words are backed up with soft nodding by Maria.

A) To Elim: "I assume his family must be rich to afford android purchases, did they have anything to say about him marrying a synthetic?"

C) To Maria: "One more drink, perhaps?"
D) To Maria: "Well, it would be nice to message each other if you're in the neighbourhood."

"Of course. If and when I'm in vicinity of Beta Carotenii, I'm going to check on you, even if I won't be visiting personally."

"Thanks, that would be excellent." Maria nods in agreement, and pushes the empty glass towards you.

"Thanks for the drinks." She says, while Elim turns slightly towards her.

"Leaving so soon?" Maria chuckles.

"Soon? I've been here almost half an hour."

"Not very long."

"Yeah, he's right." You rattle away after Elim, and the android smiles to himself.

"Oh, well... if you insist." Maria shifts on her seat for a moment, before placing her hands on the counter. "But tell me a story."

"A story?"

"Yes, a story. Something that happened on the station, or to you, lately? You always ask questions but rarely speak about yourself, Arnold..."

There was that kid who had a thing for his aunt, who we then flirted with. Very awkward situation all round.

We are also capable of single-mindedly memorising multiple manuals back to back. Probably not an exciting story though.

We almost had to do something about an asteroid that got close to the station. Ended up doing nothing as it zipped by 36kms away.

There was the guy who told us that Armed Merchantships were the best chance of buying interesting stuff from.

We met a delegation of Vahin'ti! That's probably our most interesting one, assuming aliens are uncommon anyway.

There was also the armed merchantship who we served at the same time, but there didn't seem to be anything special there.

We met an adherent of Crystal Dragon Gesús.

There was the scientist pair (one a Caninoid) working on the sensor satellite that hangs out near us.

We had the Rich Heiress and her Android come back. She was looking for suggestions towards a love match.

We amanged to repair Fuel Pump #10, after finding a spare part in a storage locker.

There's the story of another (probably) Maria who tried to convince her boyfriend to go for a hard-core bodymod to switch genders, so he left to join a mining ship with his friend who has a thing for him.

There's the Retired Federal Troowpr and his epic saga.

We also got another visit from the trio of mercenary ladies.

We have our 'escapade' with the Retired Duchess. Perhaps not one for polite company though. The story she gave us might be more suitable though, as is our Time with her bodyguard.

We met an android Bounty Hunter who was seeking a Centurian Commissar.

And then there was the military vessel playing host to Ticardian Colony diplomats, including a Mr O'ort, whose mere proximity is apparently enough to cause us to black out.

Another religious type, this time from the Cult of Path-Ways. Their crew today us about unrest in Alpha Midris System.

Finally, we had the ex-Federal Trooper, who is now more machine than man.

A2 I think, of all those, the most meaningful one would probably be with the Ticardian diplomats and Mr O'ort.

"I got myself a space rock today."

"A space rock...?"

"Yeah. I woke up today and there was a maintenance alert about a minor hull breach. So I went to for an EVA walk and turns out it was a meteorite damage. Before I hyperfoamed the hole, I plucked the space rock out and brought it with me aftewards." You reach for the synthol replicator and bring the space rock in question up and onto the counter.

"Here it is." Both Maria and Elim look at the tiny pebble, the android perhaps more inquisitively as his eyes blink with red lights for several seconds.

"Huh, you might just as well start a collection."

"No radiation hazard from it. No unusual readings either, I think it's just your everyday silicate." Elim states, while Maria giggles.

"Did you name it yet?"

A) "You don't name rocks..."

C) "Not yet, but I will entertain suggestions."
