++I am a Rogue Trader of the Guerra Dynasty, but the Ark has always been a military vessel, having proudly served the Imperial Navy before my house. Its ancient logs are proof.++ he calmly pointed out.

There is another pause.

++Affirmative. Discrepancy was on our end. Quartermaster Tatadim had wished to set up a trade meeting upon your arrival. Do you wish to have this canceled as a warship?++

++Affirmative. You are permitted one lander. Your designated LZ is LZ 314...++

You swear you hear a sigh. There is yet another pause.

++LZ 314 is currently out of operation due to...unscheduled live fire exercises. We will inform you when the exercise ends. This may take several hours. We suggest you prepare your lander for the meeting in the meantime. Attached are frequencies for local entertainment broadcasts and unsecure noosphere. Stay safe.++

++Due to elevated risk of unscheduled live fire exercises in the area of our LZ our lander is going to be escorted by our ship's strike craft to ensure security. Their orders will be to only fire if fired upon++

The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

++Unscheduled live fire exercises offer no danger for anyone not currently participating in them. If you want assault ship escort you will need airspace approval. Unless you have cause for expedience this is likely to take several days.++

Captain Guerra proceeded to share the frequencies provided, taking care to also send them to Kedia just in case it piqued her interest. "Feel free to watch the entertainment broadcasts. In fact, I advise you to do it since we might glean some extra information about this world and its culture." he said to the bridge's officers.

That had been one of the things he'd learned during Commissariat training, given that commissars could be expected to be attached to regiments with cultures and traditions wildly different from their own.

And honestly, he was very familiar with military talk, enough to know that 'unscheduled live fire exercise' sounded like an euphemism for some sort of mess.

++Are these unscheduled live fire exercises common? Most exercises tend to follow a schedule, live fire ones even more so.++ he gently nudged, making it clear he was no newbie when it came to milspeak.

Let's see. I probably need some medical attention. Seeing as I'm neither a medic nor an expert on primitives, I'll see if I can consult with the... "jester", and at least ask if imperials are likely to cover me in leeches or something if I ask for medical assistance.

++They are traditionally uncommon but allowed among the less regimented warriors outside of the fortress. As they disrupt operations they are traditionally forbidden within the fortress. Those participating in the exercise are related to less-regimented Rogue Trader houses and have received special permission from the Governor-General to exercise at their leisure. Officially it is considered to be off-world business we do not have jurisdiction over unless Rooks Crown personnel unintentionally become involved.++

Strangely you can't seem to find the Jester on the ship. His room is unlocked and shows recent signs of habitation, but none of the primitives know his location or saw him leave.

++Since business takes time and I plan to restock and have my crew rest if allowed, I am happy to put in a request to deploy my own guard planetside, much how my shipboard Security Chief has requested. The first trade meeting can dispense with the formalities for the sake of expediency, but I'd appreciate if there was a way to hasten the request's processing.++

That piqued his interest further. ++What guests does the fortress host aside from us?++

Considering that negotiations are currently being carried out on-bridge, and that the Lord Captain himself was speaking with the para-
colonists of Rook's Crown, Kedia decides to vox First Officer Cipio with some concerns.

++Honorable First Officer, I apologize if I'm distracting you from your duties, but I'm sure you're aware the crew of this vessel are aware that the crew is slightly less than purely human. Considering that negotiating with the Rook's Crown could become more difficult if the crew managed to communicate this fact, I hope that you're making sure to limit communications between the crew and the fortress?++

Your kind tend to avoid the warp whenever possible. You probably discovered why during the last trip.

Depends, it might be worth having a route directly between a corsair station and an infested Virgin World.
How close is the nearest Webway entry point to here? (IE, could I roll my webway lore skill to know if this route would be useful to the Corsairs?)

++We are currently under rationing related to the Fall of Cadia destroying previously existing supply lines. The supplies allocated for your ship had assumed you where a much smaller merchant ship. You will have to discuss shore leave with the Quartermaster. As you are a ranking noble in the Imperium you are likely to receive an audience with the Governor-General if you make such a request. He is the only one currently authorized to bypass procedure that would allow you to act more freely.++

Though as Rogue Trader you are likely able to bypass the red tape by simply not complying in the understanding that anyone under the Governor-General isn't authorized to act against you in any way in turn.

++You are authorized to send one lander to LZ 223 for resupply and shore leave. There are currently no restrictions to airspace or landing outside of the fortress if you wish to receive supplies from the outlying towns and villages.

We currently have visitors from two Rogue Trader houses and their allies. The Fall of Cadia has unfortunately meant we have had few guests.++

Rook's Crown is the only planet orbiting its sun, like it was brought from outside the solar system. It has a single moon that looks like a flawless pearl with no craters blemishing the surface (scanners suggest this is likely due to internal volcanic activity). There are signs of life all over the planet. There are small energy signatures in the upper atmosphere suggesting satellites surrounding the planet, but no sign of orbital defense platforms or ships larger than fighter/bombers.

There isn't much else to report if I don't know what your scanners are looking for.

You apparently have no idea where the nearest Webway entry point is. Still since it was once a Maiden World it is almost certainly closely connected with the Webway, so long as the old path hasn't collapsed over the centuries.

Meh. I suppose I'll copy the route and send it to a human underling, then. They can likely work out how to profit from it.
What do I know about this world?

I'm not sure. You don't really have much of a backstory. What do you know about this world?

Served in my craftworld's navy. We did try to take this world by naval force several times, so I know firsthand how dangerous these humans can be. Before that, I don't know much, it was before my time.
Well, other than the fact that it belongs to us, but that's obvious.
