Nicoletta didn't expect to have a horseman full on charge at her - but this was probably the best shot she was going to get on the mage, so against her best instincts, she wasn't moving.

"Heads up, bolt out!" With a loud twang, the machine discharged above Rykve's head.

Not moving had its consequence, as the horseman's blunt-tipped lance caught Nicoletta under her ribs in just the right place, tossing her bodily from her machine. Maybe her reflexes softened the landing.

Maybe they didn't, as she could do nothing for a moment but curl up into a ball, winded.

She knelt next to the downed trooper, speaking easily.

"That looked like a rough one, darling. All your organs still intact, you think?" she said conversationally.  "I always found fixing kidneys a little tricky."

: That should be a lesson for your squad as well. Don't underestimate a wounded and outnumbered enemy, they might go on a suicide charge and take you with them if you're not careful.
