Watson looks over at the others.
"We should tell them about the passageway when we return. No reason to withhold our intel."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Of course. It could be valuable intel and they can prepare a proper team to sweep and possibly seal the tunnels."

[Caellath]

Oh, and if you're going to HQ, watch out. Apparently the raid didn't go exactly as planned and the Dragoon Squad's mighty pissed.

"How disappointing! I wonder what has caused their grief."

[Gaterhyme]

"Whatever it was, what I'm hearing is it's like them to blame everyone else for it."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"That's right. It's why it's necessary for us to do our job correctly and well; we're not going to take a fall for their pride."

[Praefectus Screptum]

"As unlikely as it is, I do hope they don't try to blame us for their own incompetence."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Ah, how delightful! The naivety of... youth?"
She considered the helmeted man. She'd never seen him without that bucket on, come to think of it. Well, whatever; she lightly shrugged to herself.
"Either way, darling, surely you know better. As sin is the fruit of the tree of man, not God, failures are inevitably revealed as the fruit from someone else's branches."
The nun chuckled.

[Sora]

"As true as your wisdom may be sister, perhaps it would be better if we tried to keep our hopes high for what is to come next. There's no point in anything we do if we go at things with such negative mindset"

[Praefectus Screptum]

Valric gave a shrug of indifference in response.
"Foolish as it might be, I might as well throw my coin in a bet like that. Unexpected surprises can happen-and even if it doesn't, I won't be losing much."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Rykvaard whistled loudly as he was taught and circled a finger over his head, trying to get everyone's attention and get them to form up around him.

"We have a patrol to finish up and a debriefing to report to. We're the Guard, not common mercenaries. We have a job to do so let's do it."

And then he started to head back, figuring the others would fall into step.

As Rykve rounded up the laggards, they made their way back to the guard headquarters. Along the way they met with other guard squads that also participated in the raid, with rumors of the Dragoon Squad's performance.

"The first victim is always the truth."
At the headquarters, they could hear Captain Logan's loud voice as he chewed up people inside the nearest briefing room. Sergeant Angstrom spotted the squad before they were swept up in the hurricane of profanity.

: Ah, you're back. Come here before Logan interrogates all of you.

The sergeant ushered the group into another room, but even then the Dragoon captain was still in earshot.

: As you can hear, there were some problems today. But first, your report?

[SeriousConcentrate]

"As predicted, a large group of Bulls attempted to escape via the alleys we were assigned. Unfortunately there are no survivors to interrogate. Aside from the slaughter, we were well-aided by this man -"

- and here Rykve gestured to Rodolfo -

"- and, led by Watson, we discovered a secret underground entrance in the shack near our post. I thought it unwise to explore it without reporting in and securing back-up first, sir."

[Praefectus Screptum]

"It is as he said. The hole leading to the tunnel looked to be recent...but that's it."

[Solymr]

: An underground entrance...? Angstrom thought for a second with his hand on his chin.

: I'm interested in hearing more about that, but let's leave it for later. Here's the situation: the target was nowhere to be found when the main squad rolled in. So far no other squads have reported seeing anyone who matches his description around or any perimeter breaches, and we're sure he was there before today so a Bull just pulled a vanishing act on us. Not a good look.

The sergeant's gaze fell of Rodolfo next.

: What about your original squad, though? Why aren't you with them?

[Gaterhyme]

"You know, Sergeant," Nicoletta interjected, looking unnaturally serene, "what do you say we just... don't? As in don't stand here and have an interrogation from Captain Logan."

"We didn't see anything. Maybe this target dug a different tunnel and became a Bull in a rat shop. It'd be a waste of his time for the captain of the Dragoons to talk to us now and double his work since he's already telling everyone in the other room."
