Individual Libertarianism:
The idea that individual people (not corporations) should be allowed to do what they want, so long as it does not infringe on the individual rights of other people.
People can have guns, drugs, abortions, unrestricted transit between countries, live where they want, engage in any sexual act with anyone else able to consent to participate, exchange funds to encourage participation in previously mentioned sexual acts, say what they want, go where they want, etc.

Basically, I'm sick of people/groups/governments being obsessed with telling people what to do.

For example: Is it not ABSURD that people are deemed to living in a country illegally? What, only US citizens are allowed to breath the air, work the fields, and use their hard-earned funds to support themselves?

Sure, some Asshats will argue "but they use our services".  So, just don't give them those services.  Disqualify them based upon their lack of citizenship, don't lock them up because you can't be bothered to fix the financial issues, which by the way probably costs MORE money than just shrugging it off.

Frankly, I've come to the conclusion that anyone that complains about Immigration is just a Racist that found the words they needed to keep being a Racist.
...but to be fair, many of them are so afraid of being labelled racists, they refuse to acknowledge this fact to themselves.

Or, take the "those immigrants are taking my jobs". That is just someone that for whatever reason can't be bothered to examine their employer, perspective employers, and overall economic situation, BEING A FUCKING RACIST ABOUT IT. Nazi Germany had great success blaming its economic woes on the Jews. It's the same damn thing, usually done by Corporate and Government/Political entities to keep the issues simple for simple people looking for a scapegoat.

This of course means that anyone that complains about Canadian Immigrants is 1000% better than most people I hear discussing this issue.

I am a casual initiate of Hermeticism; magic is real, genuinely, but it's not special and exceptionally commonplace.  We as humans perform magic through our abiltity to communicate, in more than just words, and together bring something from being only imaginary to materially real.  We use our communication to impact one another in potentially life-changing ways, all the time.  We empower one-another through teaching and imparting experiences; we can harm each other in very real ways with hurtful words alone.

The power of music is a good example.  I get reminded of a musician in the 70's named Fela Kuti from Nigeria, who's 1977 album "Zombie" being released lead to his mother being killed by Nigerian MPs and his commune being destroyed because of how genuinely threatening to the corrupt government's power.

Art is a strong form of communication in its ability to make someone think or feel when words would fail.

With all this in mind, Tarn is a wizard, and truly, Dwarf Fortress is his greatest arcane work, the magnum opus he seeks and will continue to refine, nigredo, albedo, citrinitas, rubedo, until he has a storytelling Philosopher's Stone, forever fresh, with stories that never end, and this Great Work will outlast him and us as well (should things go well), playable until personal computers become obsolete.

Euchrejack, that's fundamentally a bad philosophy for the shaky chaos of the 21st century. 20 years from now you'd be going "but why ever would someone make a improved anthrax bomb?" Today you'd be going "why are their explosives everywhere?" The more power we all have, the less freedom we all get.

Keep your mind open and your mouth shut :)

;)

Your minds in your mouth. If it isn't also open, your mind ain't open.

Madpathmoth, you have a undeveloped understanding of magic, but it's a good start. It's better to say something like "what you can only ever partly understand", or "the comprehensibly incomprehensible." I will admit my definition isn't perfect, it is by nature a slippery bugger. Oily, even.

Not sure to what degree that counts when the Corrupt Government (Nigeria) believes in magic.
Also, the music reminds me of Tropico 5, although maybe that is just the intro that you gave.

Today you'd be going "why are their explosives everywhere?" The more power we all have, the less freedom we all get.

See, this is why it's an Unappreciated Philosophy. Because people can't read, and can't think.

Quote
Individual Libertarianism:
The idea that individual people (not corporations) should be allowed to do what they want, so long as it does not infringe on the individual rights of other people.
So no, you can't have an anthrax bomb. Nor should it be easier to procure other explosives.
Although that does lead down a slippery slope.
It generates the obvious "I still get to tell you what to do, because what you want to do infringes on my individual rights", regardless of the honesty of that statement.

Keep your mind open and your mouth shut :)

;)
Now, this is a truly wise philosophy that is difficult to appreciate.

Completely open borders and everyone gets guns is pretty much you can have an anthrax bomb. The slope is more then slippery man. Kind of slick.

Because people can't read, and can't think.

By the way, I'm you. So respect when I'm arguing on the grounds of logic.

That is a perfect example of a slippery slope argument.
Bombs and Guns are different things, anthrax is an extremely different and difficult to acquire substance. In fact, the FBI are convinced that the person who sent the Anthrax letters was a scientist in the business of making & selling the vaccine
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attacks

So, your slippery slope argument needs a more compelling secondary item to add.

Tantamount is my intent. Completely open borders and everyone gets guns is literally a wide open door for terrorism. You literally had people storm the White House; the CDC can get stormed.

We're heading into weird enough times that you should double check yourself on what can be double checked.

Open and Unprotected are two different things.
I mean, I still have to go through customs to enter Canada.

I'm not advocating for No Government (although I sometimes wish for it).

I also don't oppose the Government restricting Felons from having firearms.

...unappreciated

When you factor in all the if's and buts, you're where we are now on this particular aspect. I shouldn't have to say how easy it is to guy fawkes this one man.

Better to just say freer travel.

No.

I'm not talking about travel.  Ok, I did mention travel

But what about people ALREADY LIVING in the United States who are expelled because "they're not citizens"? I say, its a complete and utter fucking waste of time to expel people from your country solely because they didn't enter "officially". Or, the default should be "Eh, you can stay" not "We jail you, then throw you back".

Well duh. Is it worth your mental energy though?

Things are going to get a lot weirder then that before long. Immigration is a simple issue, the future isn't and it's coming sooner then later.

Yes yes, maybe it will work the issue worse; or more realistically we'll have completely different, bigger issues. Stupid is stupid at the end of the day, we haven't got the time to try and fix the population. We're going into the future with people pretty much as they are.

Madpathmoth, you have a undeveloped understanding of magic, but it's a good start.

I find it rude, after starting a thread to discuss things underappreciated-- that you tell me my own beliefs are undeveloped?  Inconsiderate.  Makes it seem like the thread was just another non-sequitor to draw attention to yourself.
