"Lijsbeth, the King is the highest authority in terms of law in Tatalia, even triumphing the Court of Laws. If he says that we are to be exiled into hands of Gallians... that's what will happen. Even if that does set a dangerous precedent."

"Even more reasons for you to go plead with him personally. Unlike a throng of judges at the Court, he is just one man whose heart needs to be swayed."

"No."

"What?"

"Our great-great-grandfather received Kraaien and Wachttoren explicitly with orders to defend them and watch over them. I can't abandon my responsibilities, and I would rather personally see to the defense of the border."

"Gunther, but you must! You rule your family now, how will the King perceive it if some lesser man or officer goes petition in your stead?"

"I will go." Cecillia suddenly spoke up, clenching her fists.

"Cecillia, you're tired, and-"

"It happened on my watch! Therefore, I must go. I will personally kneel before the King and beg him for help!"

[Caellath]

"It appears to be a valid compromise, brave mademoiselle Cecilia."

[Gaterhyme]

"Then the rest of us will go with her after all, won't we, Gunther?" There was a challenge in Lijsbeth's tone.

"If you'll only defend Wachttoren from without, then I'll follow your previous order and guard her as she defends you from within."

[Haspen]

"I don't want Cecilia to go, but... well, there doesn't seem to be any other choice. Lijsbeth, Stefan, Levi, please assist my sister on her way. Sir Beaumont will come with you as a witness and for additional protection. Not that I expect any bandits or trouble on the highway, but it won't hurt."

"And to take that worry from different angle: you do not have a healer in your entourage, Miss Cecilia, so it would be prudent to at least take some portable medicines with you for the road ahead. I will check with our quartermaster real quick." Lodewik left through the door quickly.

"Thank you, Gunther. I will avenge our family, their honor, and Marie as well."

[Caellath]

"I will be glad to accompany you all."

[GiglameshDespair]

"As you say, I don't think there's any better choice. So let's get it done, I suppose."

"What a horrible situation."

" Is there any other equipment to spare? I wouldn't mind another tome, if we've got one, for safety's sake."

[Wolfhunter107]

"Of course. I'd be shirking my duty if I stayed."

[Haspen]

"If anything happens to Cecilia--"

"I will be fine, Gunther. Do not worry."

The door opened, and the purple-haired aide entered with several bottles in hand.

"I've brought some medicine for the road." He passed some thicc bottles to every of Cecilia's guard, and the young lady too.

"Could you get a spellbook for Levi?"

"Uh, well, the quartermaster won't like it, but, sure, I will be right back." Lodewik left through the door quickly, again.

"He is very amiable." Gunther chuckled.

"Only because we have 'guests' over, sister." There was a long pause before Cecilia spoke again.

"I have a question, though. When... when this is over, what are we going to do?"

"When this is over?"

"When Marie and our parents are avenged. When justice is served to those scum that did all this. When... when we will return to restore our house." Gunther let out a defeated sigh.

"You know me, I don't do such long-term planning, Cecilia." He said with a forced smile and a shrug.

"But I'm sure... we will think of something. For now let's concentrate on the 'now'."

"Oh, of course..."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Until we know more about what might happen, I'd agree; long term plans might not be relevant until we can see the path of things."

"But however it ends, I intend to be here to help."

[Caellath]

"I concur. Now, does anyone fancy a glass of fine wine to warm the body and soul?"

[Wolfhunter107]

"I, well, uh. Whatever else happens, Cecilia, I'll be at your side for it."

"I dunno about any fine wine, but the medicine won't hurt. How's the road to the capital?"

[Haspen]

"Go north to Helige and then follow the Southern High Road along the coast. You will be in Westkust within ten days with marching pace and there's plenty of guardposts and inns to shelter at if needed on the road."

The door opened, and Lodewik entered, carrying two tomes.

"I forgot to ask which magic does your friend specialize in so I brought two. Which one would you like?" He asked, presenting the heavy tomes to the feminine mage.

//Levi can choose either Elfire or Elthunder!

[GiglameshDespair]

At the sight of the elfire tome, the mage's expression changed, somewhat, to something that was almost but not quite pain. He shut his eye for a second.

"Quite definitely the elthunder, please."

When he opened his eye again, his expression was back to normal.

"In truth, I'm best at wind magic, but thunder can pack a good punch, too."

[Haspen]

"Here you go." The heavy, yellow tome ends in Levi's hands.

"I hope your journey will be uneventful... and safe."

//Levi gets Elthunder!

The mage weighed the tome in his hands before putting it away.

"Thank you. I'd wish that there won't be a need for me to use it - but somehow, I can't imagine that wish coming true."
