I guess. As long as you didn't build anything of worth in there.

My dreams. I built them there.

1 astral 1 earth site pretty good, how much pop would you pay for that, if you had a choice? Probably not 75% of a good province, but 75% of a bad one or 10% of most... I think'd I'd go for it.

It is a pop center; 10% for the site is a profit, but 75% is definitely a loss.

It appears people begin to struggle with the 30h deadline a bit. I've changed it to 36h from now on (this includes 6h postponement right now, so that certain fish can maybe wake up).

I agree with the change to 36h given we are now entering the mid-game; but wouldn't an additional extension of 6h be appropriate in this case? If the squids asked for 12 specifically, I imagine there is some sort of scheduling reason for it.

WealthyRadish, you cheeky git! How in the world did you get to alteration 6 AND conjuration 5 in your drain3 dominion, and until recently one fort(I think)??
While I struggle getting anywhere with three forts since half the game doing little but hiring cheap lab rats in magic2?

While the likes of Gangnam Style and Natalie Imbruglia were out partying, Weeastue studied the blade.

Just a small note that I'll be travelling for the next ~4 days, but ideally shouldn't need any extensions.

Praise be to the crappy hotel wifi! The trip is over.

Come to think of it. How can you afford your everything? Temples plastered everywhere (cheap, but still), dai oni, researchers, forts, labs. In this dominion, with this few and this mediocre provinces, with unrest from all that freespawn?
What magic is this? Tell me your secret, you magnificent bastard you.

Supply-side oninomics is often criticized for encouraging seemingly disastrous policy such as "what's a fort?", "50 unrest isn't bad", and "maybe I'll get a good event someday", but the detractors often miss the benefits of "compound deficit". It turns out that 50% less of "not much" is mathematically equal to "not much", and by thoroughly adopting this innovative system of account one can simply pretend the problem doesn't exist.

Yomi's dominion has been thoroughly pushed out (I know this because it covers half my caverns, sabotaging my research and making my pale ones angry >:() and is Luck 3. Luck 3 is a secret income scale which works independent of problems like unrest and otherwise bad scales.

I'd venture Luck 3 and actual luck on top; possibly paired with gold sites and little upkeep on the army front.

Yomi is a nation that desperately craves diversity in its arsenal, though - it lacks an oppressive early game, but its national arsenal is easy to counter from the midgame afterwards.

Its fort army line is horrendous outside a stealth niche it does not excel at. It has a skeleton spammer but it easily puts a dent through Yomi's budget.  Fire in general is not a great path when it comes to evocations, due to the double damage reduction tax.

The Dai Oni are what attracts players to Yomi, but it is is not a good supercaster, despite its price, and it only very dubiously qualifies as a SC chassis due to certain glaring weaknesses, being more of a heavy thug. It can do alright with a strong bless, but then it emphasizes its economic woes.

At least Niefel Jarls are actual SC material, and a good Niefel player can overlook the urge to rely too deeply on the niefels and push Niefelheim into a blood power with endgame aspirations.

Deffo mostly agree with you on the issues Yomi has, but I do wanta stick up a little bit for the Bakemono-sho. They are really quite good, cheap, take buffs very well, have very decent damage and their weapon is quite long. They'll trade advantageously for most other units for similar gold investment. Only extremely tanky units can hope to survive the number of drn that they throw out. They are by no means horrendous, I'd call them quite good.

That said, Yomis income penalty and other issues you talked about really hold the Bakemono back.

Yeah, my thinking too. A couple luck3 treasures would go a long way.

I actually agree with you. I forgot they are size 1, recruit for just 5 gold in mountains, or that the yari has a base length of 4.

That combination does make them look quite cost-effective, despite the undisciplined tag.

On the topic of the bakemono-sho, I recently saw a short video by a player advocating a bakemono-centric strategy for Yomi: https://youtu.be/91QAQT6qcEE

That player managed to put 750 goblins on the field by turn 12. I understand his thesis was essentially that this technique was so overwhelmingly strong it could be used to win early wars as Yomi and make up for the nation's economic disadvantages.

The approach somewhat feels like a one-trick pony to me; notably, the strategy is hard-countered by certain specific units (Abysian burning ones have high protection and AoE damage, for example; magma kids would likely fare alright, but would suffer heavy attrition) or by SCs who can ignore an arbitrary number of yari hits (not an easy thing at all in the early game - those things hit for 19 piercing damage with SoG). Still, the pony is strong and it is barded with 750 yaris, so maybe those flaws are acceptable.

It's neat that it also avoids the weakness to order scales and the need for many temples (and it makes growth scales more attractive). I think if I were playing more optimally I would've recruited many more goblins early, but for my first multiplayer game I didn't want to play aggressively.

Abyssia seems like just such a horrible match for Yomi, even with cold scales. I'm not sure I can imagine a valid counter... the only thing that comes to mind is Rigor Mortis, with all the problems that would come with that.
