I literally pressed all the keys on my keyboard and nothing happens. Playing as a human in a village. Is it an unusable feature or what?

It depends on what you have.

 <and> symbols require you to press the corresponding keys. Ramps, which are triangles, are a bit different. You need to walk towards the higher plane of elevation. Basically, just look at the screen for the floor the ramp is leading to. Walk towards the upper floor and you should be up there.

I seriously thought it was an issue with ramps. Those things were tricky to my first adventurers.

well because to do <and> you have to hold shift.

Yeah, I assumed he didn't mean literally every button. Halfway through he'd hit the switch on his power strip and the computer would mysteriously turn off o_O

Nah, he was just systematically going through the keys. First normal, then Ctrl, then Shift, then Alt. He got messed up with Ctrl + F4.
