Lets go over what the Fate Seeker had to say real quick

"An ambitious man, with great hopes for his city and his family. Beware, for one can be the downfall of the other.":

This seems to me to imply that we must be careful which side we focus on because if we focus on too much on our city and not enough on our family or vice versa then one side is gonna suffer and most likely lead suffering to the other side.

"I can see your worries for the east, but do not forget the dangers that lie below. Old foes long forgotten will come. A tall creature from the west will come. Shall you allow him, his line will be intertwined with yours, for worst and better, until the dusk of your times.":

I think this to mean we dont have to worry about the east invaders getting us anytime soon but instead must worry about some enemy below us this could be anything from disease, a old ruling family trying to take back power, giant insects, drought, to even literal demons so we probably just got to wait and see on this one. As for the tall creature im guessing if we side with him he is going to be a powerful asset but absolutely tank our reputation with everyone else possibly a demon.

"A ethereal being will take up residence in this very place. Woe to the blood of the one who would chase it. This is all I have to say.":

This feels the most straight forward if we see a ghost or specter or some other supernatural thing within our city/castle unless we wish to die or have one of our sons/daughters die we should just ignore it no matter how tempting it may be to follow it.

All in all pretty decent fortune telling.

Anyway id love to go with C cause we just bought a giant library but for presenting ourselves sake lets go with B

The "ethereal being" could be related to the Namorian girl, potentially. If she brings along a spirit of some kind, we'll know not to go asking it for favours.

Anyway, yeah. Not rich enough for A, not insignificant enough for C. Hopefully our natural charisma will suffice to keep our defensive allies on board with us. Mind you, it might also be considered a bit inappropriate to pull out all the stops for a Namorian, so maybe A would be a bad idea regardless.

Loving your interpretations! Note them somewhere, so you can compare when the actual events happen if you were right and if the Fate Seeker did not bullshit. :P

You decide to follow protocol to the letter and organize a grand, but not over-the-top wedding.

The fiancee family arrives weeks later, with the ceremony going smoothly. Since the last time she and your son has saw each other, both have grown. The girl, called Elahe, is still a skinny and bushy weasel, with a sharp tongue. Unlike the last time, however, she does not use it against her future husband, as both are looking each other with a mix of awe and infatuation. It seems the river spirit's bless is working great so far!

After a few days of celebration, everyone goes back home happy, and with a full belly.

304 AC, Autumn

News from your steward! Progress has been made on the bronze market front, with a handful of corrupt thugs and merchants captured and promptly punished, often with death. While this show your men are on the right track, he however warns you that the situation is still too unbalanced to pull out money for the treasury.

A) "This can't be! I need money now!"
B) "This is taking too long. I'll take the matter in my own hands"
C) "Good thing. Continue, then"

No brainer. We don't have the fiscal skills to intervene, and while we need to watch our spending, we aren't broke yet.

You decide to let your steward do his job, despite the lack of financial injections.

304 AC, Winter

Rumors from the west! An ambitious warlord has apparently overthrowed the last Kalkan emperor, after the empire continuous string of defeats against the Namorrians, seizing the city of Kalka. Despite the poor state of the Kalkan army, he managed to stop the invaders from entering the capital. Your councillors are still dubious on how long this miracle will last.

305 AC

The figures on your throne changed once more in the dark:

Stability: =
Army: -
Treasury: -
Population: =

Your treasury is once more heading for troubles, and the construction of library has not even started! You wonder for how long you will have to wait before the cash from the bronze market flows back at the palace.

305 AC, Spring

Your marshal enters at full throttle in the throne roome.

"My lord, what is happening in Kalka is a clear signal: we must reinforce our army, which is still restoring from our recent independence!"

You look at him, disillusioned. He clearly doesn't know the state of the treasury. Maybe for the best.

"This is the Kalkan swansong. You are only trying to get funds for you and your men!" accuses one of your councillors.
"Trust my guts, it's not."

A) "This does not matter. We will get mercenaries latter should the need arise"
B) "Alright, start the recruitment then"
C) "Maybe we can form slave-soldiers for a cheaper manpower?"

I'm not sure we can afford that. And we did have that slave surplus recently. I'd like to see if we can make slave-soldiers work. Remember, they aren't as crazy an idea as they sound. Treat them well, and they can be very effective. Heck, Janissaries were slave soldiers, and they were (for a while) the best soldiers in the world.

C

What's the worst that could happen, besides a slave uprising that sees them take over the city?

I mean Janissaries were kids taken from families at a young age and trained up for the sole purpose of being soldiers which is a bit different then taking grown men and telling them they got to fight for the country they just got captured by (remember most of our slaves we literally just captured about 2-3 years ago from some other nation regardless fine we can give it a shot)

(Even then the Janissary system wasnt perfect with some defecting once learning of there origins one notable case ending up becoming a general of albania and being a general thorn in the ottomans side for awhile since he knew all there tactics not even mentioning how much political power the Janissaries ended up getting later on into the ottoman empire and all the revolts from that.)

Changed my vote.

You order your marshal to enlist a few thousands of slaves to widen the army, as this will give the same results for a cheaper cost. While disappointed, he reluctantly agrees.

305 AC, Mid-Summer

Your steward informs you that the rot that was corrupting the bronze trade should not exist anymore. Once again, bronze and gold shall flow into your treasury!
Even better, your daugher-in-law is pregnant. You will soon be a grandpa!

305 AC, Late Summer

Hearsays from the west point out that the warlord who resisted the Namorrians in Kalka holds his ground. The so-called "Restorer" is said to be taking back the ground in Kalkan's homelands against the foreigners.

305 AC, Early Autumn

Your son Naram-gez now has a son, and you a grandson! Elahe gave birth to a healthy young boy, named Uktan, without any complications. A worthy addition to your family.

305 AC, Autumn

A delegation of Kenkidu's priests is coming. They want the promised funds for their great library!
Your treasurer sends you a demoralized look.

A) Respect the deal, and give them the money
B) Negotiate to postpone the project
C) Diplomatically explain that you cannot in the foreseeable future afford to pay this library

I am curious if events outside our nation are decided from the story teller or dice rolls.

Anyway now that money is starting to flow in I think we can go with A without going bankrupt hopefully got nothing against B and god forbid C if we are feeling ballsy.
