"Nothing. It's a damned curse. And this bastard is evidence." She returns to silently fuming. She isn't leaving, but she isn't sure she can continue talking without putting Greoger down right there.

Emilia has remained silent the entire time.

For the king of Dunland to have done this, to have hidden his son away, to have succumbed to such darkness, in the name of what?

She gazed over at Rhian. Emilia herself never knew what it was to be abandoned. But she knew someone who had. Her sisters, too, had fallen in the name of some war that was caused by utter hubris. Dunas, whom she owed her life to.

She takes one step towards the king.
"I swore an oath, as a Maiden Warrior, to protect the lands from war, and I took that oath as seriously as my sisters did. I will fulfil that oath. But make no mistake, Your Highness, I will not brook your self-pity. The situation you were in was untenable, but was you who chose to make it worse. What I do, I shall do for my sisters who fell in your war, for those I took in because of that war," she says, glancing over to Rhian. "And for your son, who I owe my life to."
"Make no mistake, I will not hasten the revelations of your misdeeds. But I will take no action to protect you, either. My sisters died for this, Your Highness. Many have died because of you. No tears, no apology, no amount of reparation will ever undo that."

After a moment to look over Rhian, Emilia turns to leave.

"...I can not say I can't sympathize with you, in a strange, twisted way. Your apology won't undo the harm you did, but I have faith you will hold yourself to the word you have given to us and your son. I won't make any promises for the others, but you can count on my help in your endeavor."

Maria kept an eye on Rhian, hoping she would understand that the long term benefits of such an alliance would outweigh the short term satisfaction of taking the king's head right here and now.

"Try to be half the hero the people remembered you as and maybe you can prevent such a tragedy from happening again in the future."

Eiriol remained quiet tapping the handle of her sword as she considered everything that was said.

"Yeah I should bonk you multiple times over but doing so would make it harder to bonk the other bad guys so that will have to wait unit later."Eiriol frowned "Or once you tell everyone all this stuff they will decided what to do with you what ever comes first." she finished with a nod.

Alfalm calmly looked as the group is leaving one person at a time, until only he and the other two patients remain.

"That was actually the best I could hope for, and a little more."

One of the patients slowly rised up, grasping his sword.

"Finally. It became harder and harder to lie motionless while listening to your disgusting truth."
"So you wish to murder me once more, in this place of healing?"
"Yes and no. I will kill you, but not here, not yet. After all, I now know who all of your children are."
"...! Wait! At the very least, don't go after Falmer and Eleya. They had no involvement at all!"
"So had my mother and my brother. Why should I listen to your sense of ethics in this twisted world you created? Many bloodlines of Wyrmpeak got snuffed out. About time you would pay up with your bloodline."
"..."
"Nevertheless, I am their father. I will protect them, as I should have done so for the past decades. It doesn't matter how righteous your desire for revenge would be."
"I was hoping you'd say that. Then I can strike you when you're at your weakest."

Dulosta exits.

As the black-clad knight leaves the ward and passes you without really acknowledging you, Dunas was deep in contemplation, but also filled with visible fury, his clenched fists shaking.

"To think... it was him... all along..."

It took a moment before the shaking stops and Dunas was in control of himself for the time being.

"We... need to think about what to do from now on. Frankly, I'd wish to denounce my knighthood and declare the outpost independent. I have no desire to be my father's son and would rather be my mother's son, rebuilding Wyrmpeak and give it back to what few Mamkute remain in this world. But that is just a fantasy that would make us the enemy of the other knights. I cannot put your lives at risk for such a selfish whim."
"Alternatively, I could defect to another nation. The question though is, which one... Westwind would afford me to remain close to the Outpost, but after the war, I doubt they'd take me. The other nations probably wouldn't be too happy to assist someone of Dunland either. Then again, with Westwind, we could figure out Noel's origin..."
"Oooh, right. Almost forgot I'm of blood actually."
"In either case... All of you are free to go if you wish. I will not hold it against you and you will always be welcome at my outpost, for as long as I can hold it."
Ceodor looked in Rork's direction, but remained silent for now.

Dunas pats the pocket where he was carrying the true Fire Emblem.

"But first, we should return home, right?"

Rhian shakes her head.

"No. You need to hear what we heard first. It involves Falmer."

"P-prince Falmer? Why would you..."

After being taken aback by this surprise statement, he swiftly looks grim at Rhian.

"Tell me. What has he done to my older half-brother?"

"He's sealed in the Emblem. It was part of a curse he put on the Mamkute to try to keep them away from you, and the other people responsible are still out there."

"... I see... I see..."
Surprisingly, Dunas' expression softens in response.
"He probably did the best thing possible to Falmer within his twisted viewpoint, I'll give him that. Not that it is any good, of course. After all, it's been more than 20 years since the so-called kidnapping... And because he is sealed in the Emblem, he has not aged a single day. He has remained a boy of six years. Such is the power of the Emblem."
He pulls out the Emblem, looking at it.
"For us, decades have passed. For him, a mere second once he is released from this seal. The shock would be too great for such a fragile innocent heart if he knew... ... Now there's another decision weighting heavily on my heart."

Rork rumbles a bit to break Dunas' line of thought so he can speak his piece. "Better to avoid being here for the moment, regardless of who we choose to follow after. Wyrmpeak's not going anywhere, but the little knives in shadow that they've got on that council'll find us if we're not careful."

Rork looks at the emblem harshly for a moment, as if trying to peel secrets from its glimmering surface. "'sides, if we let your brother loose here, fool king will have him in a moment even if it makes no sense he hasn't aged. Wouldn't want him back there, even if he's not my kin."

"I just say we should just bonk the king and the others he was working with and all the other bad guys. Then everything will be easy once we do." Eiriol grumbled clearly annoyed at all the stuff that was happening.

There are factors to consider. Sir Dunas speaks of cutting ties with Dunland entire, where she was knighted. Joining other countries. But before anything else.

"Sir Dunas. If it is a question of seeing your loved ones, the answer should be yes." ...  Artair sighs sadly after a moment.  "Goddess knows, if I could wake my Father up, I would do so."

She continues on. No time to reminisce, since apparently Dunland itself.. It isn't safe to serve anymore, if the dragons die out and the Dark God returns.

"No matter what path you decide, what about your Mother? No matter which path we walk, leaving her here means she will likely be executed. If we're to restore Wyrmpeak as it's own nation, then the first part is ensuring the Manakete are safe."

"I agree with Rork. Whatever we decide, we shouldn't talk about it here. And Artair has a point, we need to get Wymera before someone else does."

"You are correct about Wymera. I trust the Count Palatine, but he only can do so much. Let's get back to the grand hall."

Surprisingly enough, there was little commotion at the stage where the fight against her was. The entourage didn't get halted by the guards and a trio of Patrice Ragnvald, Wymera and - strangely enough - Duke Laspa were having a light chat with each other, while a few soldiers investigated the scene. As you approached, you've been waved and greeted by them.

"Welcome back, heroic knight. I was certain you'd get swarmed by impressed castle guards."
"Indeed! I'm so sorry for having been a hindrance, but I just couldn't bear the thought of you getting mauled by that dragon..."
"... Err..."
"I've heard everything already, Sir Dunas. You all valiantly fought, then Wymera entered, got herself in danger and you leaped in at the last second to deflect this mighty strike. Then you drove the dragon back to the point of him fleeing through the hole. Magnificient!"
"... Oh! I just did my duty, Duke Laspa."
"Don't be humble, my boy. That is simply the truth of the manner, and I am fully aware of it. No major harm was done and the most important thing is that your mother is safe."
"Yes... I understand. Now I wonder, how will things proceed from there?"
"I can imagine that you will return to the outpost, to find out more about the hidden dragon. I'd love to accompany you, but Laspa already offered me a place to stay at, for old times' sake. His estate is not too far away from Wyrmpeak anyway, we might be able to visit you."
"After I made sure that there is nothing else out of the ordinary, I will likely return to Alestia. I'm certain the Maiden Warriors will love to hear of today's events... Something tells me my dearest sister will continue accompanying you and I will not stop her. We will stay in touch, Sir Dunas."
"For me, business as usual. Maybe I'll increase trade with your outpost though, as a sign of gratitude. Goddess knows you may need the additional supply for whatever will happen next in Wyrmpeak."
"I see, I see. I am relieved to hear that much. And you're correct, mother, I'll return to the outpost. Today, in fact. After all... justice is not achieved by idling around. But rest assured, mother, that you're always invited to the Outpost. Whatever happens, you can go there."

A room illuminated by lit chandeliers, deep under Castle Lornen. Arnston, Thylessa and Ernod arrive, with Zornac already present.

"Ah, Prince Arnston. I've been awaiting you. But your father...?"
"He is incapacitated. I'll lead today's meeting in his absence."
"A shame. I hope he will be well soon."
"Yes, we all hope as much. And you hope the most for His Majesty's well-being because you're a paragon of altruism."
"My, my, such words. But, do you know that implies you'd hope for less noble reasons?"
"Altruism is for those who have nothing to give. I'd give everything for the prosperity of Dunland."
"Stay your lips. It is still my father you're blabbering about. The meeting of the Eternal Dawn begins now."

As if commanded to do such, each member shifts their wardrobe a bit to reveal the same insignia weaved into their cloth, usually hidden by their mantle or overcloak. Ernod himself removes his bandana, prominently showcasing the symbol of their group on his forehead.
"May the night fortify trust and light illuminate us all."
"May our fight be just, smite the wicked until they fall."

From the other side of the underground chamber, a wall slides to the side, revealing a tunnel. A man enters the room.

"G-g-g-greetings, Eternal Dawn. Oh, I see-see-see... see that the king is missing today."
"Part of the aftermath of the dragon's attack earlier."
"Ah, g-g-got it... Well, it shoul- it shoul- it shoul... it makes no difference."

The man raises a filled bottle, shimmering red, in his right hand, supporting it with his left placed against the bottom. One can see that his left hand is prosthetic, albeit well-made.

"For celebrations are in-in-in order."
"Is this what I assume to be, alchemist?"
"Cer-cer-certainly, Marchioness. Minor Charos."
"It is something, but not much. How did you manage to create it anyway? You've been struggling with it for a while."
"I helped with that."
Ernod steps forward.
"I brought back Ghal after he failed to protect the Emblem. Might as well become the alchemist's guinea pig as repentance."

The prince slams his fist on the grand table.

"... As leader of today's meeting by birthright, I will finally demand answers. Why are we tolerating the alchemist and his forbidden art of creating artificial Blood? Why was the Emblem with Ghal? And didn't Sir Dunas report that he executed Ghal on site? He is a good man, he would neither lie nor be sloppy in his duty!"

In response, Ernod closes in on Arnston and whispers in his ear. Arnston listens, first infuriated, then confused, then with a defeated expression on his face. Finally, Ernod raises his head.
"And that is the truth."
"... So... So be it, then... Did all of you knew? That I inherited no Blood?"
"I'm afraid so, Your Royal Highness. Knowing this was the only reason I agreed to become interim king when your father planned for his second crusade."
"The one and only reason, of course, and no other."
"The prince is griefing. Let him stomach his loss first."
"It's rare that I agree with you, Eligor."
"... But no one else knows, aside from us."

Arnston stands up, a stern gaze upon the alchemist.

"If you wish for me to close my eyes to your heretical practices, you will produce Major Charos, alchemist."
"A tall or-or-order. I will do my best, I just need ti-ti-time, Your Royal Highness."
"All the time in the world, as long as you will have results. Oh, and hand over the vial of Minor Charos right now."
"Of course."

The vial gets exchanged.

"I need to look after father. Be assured that I will lead the next meeting. Dismissed!"

The prince leaves, shortly followed by Ernod, who put on the bandana again. The alchemist retreats in his hidden chamber. Zornac and Thylessa remain.

"Major Charos..."
"I doubt he could give a reasonable explanation on how he developed it now."
"Oh, he can't. But I can give reason to introducing someone of Major Charos to the court. Now, Eligor, be gone, prepare yourself for your future duties. Dunland needs a king that can guide them."
"I see... I will leave things to your capable silver-tipped tongue once more, you witch of a Marchioness."

Thus, only Thylessa was left in the room. She takes a glass and a bottle of red wine from a nearby storage, fills it up and raises it, the light of the chandeliers reflecting.

"All of you can leave everything to me. After all... long live the Brand."

The goodbye between the Entourage and the allies of Dunas was short and sweet, leaving on good and hopeful terms. Necessary time was spent on checking supplies for the travel, then the entourage was back in their carriages, on their way home. As Castle Lornen shrunk more and more at the horizon, Dunas finally let out a deep sigh.

"... It should be safe to discuss plans now. But first, I noticed something while I was talking with mother."
"Duke Laspa is a co-conspirator. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he happens to be a Mamkute too."

"At least there's one friendly face," Rhian grumbled. Despite the fighting being over, she'd beelined for her armor at the first opportunity; her dress had disappeared to parts unknown.
