Workshop and Stockpile naming
« on: May 21, 2022, 08:02:06 am »

Problem: If workshop and stockpile has same name they cannot be identified (identical names) in "Set building tasks" interface (key:q).

Example: Rice beer still (name: Rice) and Rice plant stockpile (name: Rice) will list "Rice" two times.

Solution: Have a different text color or automatically added icon in front of the name.

Better solution: Just leave what it is in the name - Rice Still and Rice SP.

Strange.  I always thought the ability to change the name of a workshop or stockpile was something that only existed in DFHack…

Really hoping somebody puts this in their signature.

and added the ability to give nicknames to all buildings, zones and stockpiles.
Edit: oh, yeah, it's in the release notes
And when DFHack adds a keyboard shortcut to a screen, the key will be displayed in red.

Yes, this works. Thanks. I do this: "W:Date wine" and "S:Dates".

I quess it would not hurt if game would automatically add a symbol of type of the target e.g. "[m] Basalt" would be convention for named Basalt masonry workshop? Stockpile icon could be just =.

Then giving a name of "Basalt" to different workshops and stockpiles would end to have names like:
[m] Basalt
[r] Basalt
[=] Basalt

It would allow a little bit longer names since type of the link would not needed to be added to name of the link.
