Day - Night Filter to Show Passage of Time
« on: May 14, 2022, 02:12:19 am »

In the Premium release it might be good to add a subtle filter above ground to show the passage of the day night cycle. Like how Rimworld/Prison Architect/Frostpunk/etc does it.

This is also going to definitely be useful for adventure mode since day night actually matters for adv. And in Fort mode it gives perspective to how fast or slow tasks are being done.

Adventure mode already gradually changes the lighting at dawn and dusk.

Meanwhile in fort mode a day only lasts 10.7 seconds at the default tick rate of 100fps, so it would just be flashing light for 5.35 seconds and dark for 5.35 seconds. Also, fort mode dwarves don't do things at certain times of day or even daily, so it would look like they're only eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. a few times a year ... which is true ... but it would just be horribly confusing to display a day/night cycle but not hav it affect anything.
