You roll BS, all vehicle weapons are based on your vehicle proficiency. There really isn't any skill involved.

Re-reading this in hindsight the game really, really expects people to spend their starting XP, and regiments to use their free favored weapons choices.

If someone runs this again I'd recommend doing that for new players, as you gain things like 30% boosted odds to avoid all damage and +10 to hit.
