How do I get less swamps using Adv World Gen?
« on: April 22, 2022, 04:27:57 pm »

I find that Dwarf fortress produces too many large swamps and I am waiting to reduce the amount by about 1/4 and the size of them by 1/3.
How would I do this in Adv World Gen?
I do not understand the documentation so can someone help me out exactly what I need to do? Which variables do I change and to what values to reflect the above?

Look at the advanced world gen rainfall and drainage setting descriptions. Changing one or both settings should reduce the amount of wetland, but you need to test it out to see how well this works.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

That page also has a table that details what the requirements for regions are. If you do succeed in reducing the amount of swamps you might need to lower the minimum square/region counts to avoid excessive world rejections.
