The plan if Bay12 ever gets collectively stuck in the past

Any special requests?

What can we be bothered to do together, anyway?

Step 1. Stuck in the past
Step 2. Build dwarf fortress

There is not a time period of mankind which is not improved with the addition of a dwarf fortress

Stuck in the past?  Nothing my beekeeper fortress full of BEES cannot aid!

Would moving at exactly light speed be considered 'stuck in the past' ?

If so, what we should do is strike the earth when we arrive at our destination.

Imagine! A brand new fresh planet, colonized by the Bay12 community.
It would be awesome! And terrifying.

We could farm any sapient natives for their bones. We could flood the planet with magma. We could die.

So many possibilities! It would be nice if the destination was a moon rather than a planet. Habitable moons are cooler.

I was thinking of something comfier. Like a giant tavern full of mead and metalworks, visited by distant scholars peddling trinkets like the secrets of life and death, but really just to get drunk

We live on a SimpleMachines forum devoted to discussing an ASCII game. I think we might already be there.

Which, of course, means we should immediately begin implementing all these ideas.

I'd figure the collective superbugs we've become immunized to over centuries would promptly wipe out most life on earth or somethin'.

Clearly, that means we must praise hypnotoad and throw ourselves into a collective bonfire to save the future generations, and presumably avoid us murdering our several times great grandparents with a paradox plague. This also neatly dodges the possibility of becoming our many times great grandparents in an act of mass chronotalogical incest.

So no downsides except the whole dying in a fire thing. Should go well!

Damn, savage but true.

Ignoring all realistic concerns, we'd do awesome in Roman times!  "Fighting" enemies by constructing walls and ditches in front of them is like 99% of combat back then.  Heck maybe some of our younguns can bring those "Fortnite" skills too.

Then after some crazy hijinks we get to be responsible for inspiring every classical megaproject.  It's a perfect plan~

Everybody gangsta until an argument over Socialism/Capitalism/Communism starts.

Which Bay12 forum member would emerge victorious? I should probably start training...

Presumably, if we were teleported far enough back in time, we could sidestep the issue by inventing some other system.
Perhaps a Shareocracy...

The ironic thing about Capitalism is that it's founders chose one of several human vices to build a system around. What if, they chose another vice?
(Although arguably, Capitalism works because it embraces all human vices. Other social systems tend to fail because they rely upon people being better than they are)

If we go back in time we can all go out and find our past selves and punch them in the face!
