Now I’m thinking of those fruit witches from Adventure Time, where one of them ate a fruit, turned into an apple and was mauled by the other fruit witches, we don’t know what’s in any of these, and she probably knows magic which is likely the source of the strange compulsion, what if the food puts us to sleep or turns us into a pie? I don't like any of these options, but bread and water are least scary.

Meats from creepy hill hags can be tainted and/or human flesh. Fruits could be poisonous. Insulting creepy old ladies by refusing their hospitality completely could also be bad.
