Crypto will probably and hopefully be banned in a lot of countries in the coming months.
Sad that we need a war and so many deaths to get it accomplished, crypto should have been banned from the start as the driving force behind organised crimes like sexual exploitation of children.

Afaik crypto was on its way to being banned even before the war due to the absurd energy consumption, but yeah, the war is speeding up that process.

I don’t know the source of that quote but the essence is good. I don’t believe we are there yet so some compulsory work should still be needed, but as automatization kicks in we are coming closer and closer to a world where that it possible. It’s better than the automatization kicking in and everyone losing their job also losing their income for sure.

We could start by all starting to work only half the hours we do now. Emancipation brought freedom to women, only to see it taken away by the factories (hurray, we have twice as many wage slaves now, let's lower wages!) The children pay the price by having no more parents at home to raise them.
We live in a world where neglecting your career is considered a worse crime than neglecting your children.

The Finnish experiment with basic income for everyone kinda shows the doomsaying to be nonsense. People didn't stop looking for or taking jobs, even though they had a basic income. Like, not at all.
Apparently people in general still want to find fulfillment in being useful to society.

Trouble with this is that "the Government" is really also "Men" - so this is saying "Man should work only so much as he wishes to work, but should provide to all Men so that the Men are free to work..."  Once you make that substitution you realize the inherent conflict and absurdity in such a statement; you cannot put a "should" on both.

Especially because if you merely let Man do whatever work they want, then there probably isn't enough to go around to let all Men do whatever they want.  At some point, someone is going to have to do some work they don't really want to do.

One of the "humorous secrets" of crypto that it's basically "a spreadsheet of managing IOUs with your friends - on a computer!" rather than a formal banking system.

The reason it's humorous is it's used with strangers and used for thousands and millions of dollars rather than just grocery or rent money or who covered whom at the restaurant.

But yeah, it's just a stock market where the stocks aren't backed by any actual material, but instead your confidence that there's a bigger rube to sell it to in the future.  It cannot be sustained forever.

Bitcoin has no value stability, and is inherently deflationary.  It's quite awful at actually being money as you're incentivized to never really spend it.  Not that there's much to spend on other than more cryptos and NFTs.  It's a vague store of value based on "good vibes" nothing more.

At least US dollars can be used for debt and taxes.
