So a thonk comes to mind. During WWII Germany's invasion of the USSR had a fun little diversion to attack the Ukraine to try and secure oil fields, because Nazi Germany basically couldn't do logistics. Aside from the obvious desire to fuck with NATO, what're the odds that Russia has just out-murrica'd us as one of its secondary objectives...

Seems to be conflicting reports on that one, actually.

Ukrainian military has said the Odessa landing was false, but the troops (possibly both RU and Belarus?) from the north is true. And pretty much everything else.
