You know, Haspen, I was thinking, for next time, it would be interesting if there were alternate-timeline cards that can only be used if earlier events *don't* happen, like, in the example I was thinking of, a 50s card where, if 32 never gets played, an older Mietko with changing political sympathies joins the blue party. This adds another layer to shaping the historical narrative.

Funnily enough, I already have 'Great War' concept where parties vote on headlines to determine alternate history start-ups.

EXPANSION: End of an Era

1. This expansion aims to make the preparatory stage a bit more interesting and initial setup a bit more varied.
2. All 4 Parties must agree to include 'End of an Era' rules; if any dissents, the Expansion is ignored and preparatory stage proceeds as the usual.
3. During 'End of an Era' the Parties discuss several dramatic events that happened at the turn of XIX/XX centuries in Pankratinia. There are 5 Headlines (A to E) and their order is randomly determined at start of the End of an Era setup.
4. Each Party votes on 1 Option out of 3 available for each Headline; the Voting is by placing the Party's Vote on an Option when the Headline is choosen by the GM.
5. Each Party has 3 Support Cards; two that grant +1 modifier and one that grants +2 modifier; they can Play a Card when choosing an Option to boost their Vote.
6. If two or more Options gather the same amount of Votes, the Headline is ignored.
7. After all Headlines are discussed, the game can start in its preparatory stage.

---Headline A: "REVOLUTIONARIES STORM THE YEBAKRAJEVIC PALACE"---

"Having assumed power in Kingdom of Pankratinia in the 1791, the hundred years' old dynasty of Yebakrajevic saw its power and reputation weakened after the financial excesses of Kazmir II and autocratic and cruel rule of Hrodmierz IV. This culminated in republican revolt that attacked the Yebakrajevic Palace in Mid-Spring 1893, few months before the start of the Great War."

Option 1: "Yebakrajevic Dynasty Purged!"
Removes '01: Royal Family Returns' from the Deck. Every Party that voted for this Option gains extra 1 Popularity to spend during preparatory stage.

Option 2: "Yebakrajevic Dynasty Exiled!"
No effect.

Option 3: "Consitutional Monarchy Established!"
Replaces '001: Royal Family Returns' with '001-B: Dynastic Favor'. Blue Party starts the game with 2 Popularity extra in KRUNICA Region.

---Headline B: "OMBROVIEC CAPTURED BY PANKRATINIANS"---

"The Great War quickly shown all involved how the warfare have changed; from field combat and glorious cavalry charges to trench warfare and mass artillery shelling. One particular territorial conquest gained by Pankratinia was the wealthy textile hub of Ombroviec county and the city itself. The local majority Damdamian population would quickly oppose Pankratinian occupiers, causing all sorts of trouble for years to come."

Option 1: "Ombroviec Returns to Damdamians!"
Removes '034: Ombroviec Question' from the Deck. Every Party that voted for this Option gains extra 1 Popularity in CZERVEC Region. Yellow Party gains 1 Popularity extra in KRUNICA Region.

Option 2: "Ombroviec Annexed by Pankratinia!"
No effect.

Option 3: "Ombroviec Designated a Free County!"
Removes '034: Ombroviec Question' from the Deck. Yellow Party gains 2 Popularity extra in CZERVEC Region.

---Headline C: "KAREL KOPIEC TO DELIVER SPEECH ON DWARVEN AUTONOMY"---

"Karel Kopiec was a Red party vice-premier from 1894 to 1914. He lobbied for giving the dwarves of Minkutam Region greater autonomy and inclusion in Pankratinian Parliament. This would culminate in an emotional speech in the Parliament on 22th Late Autumn 1901."

Option 1: "Minkutam Autonomous Region Established!"
Removes '003: Minkutam Unrest', '026: Minkutam Crisis', '039: Ziemiec Treaty' and '044: Minkutam Democratic State' from the Deck. MINKUTAM Region gains 4 more Popularity Slots. Yellow Party and Red Party start the game with 1 Popularity each in MINKUTAM Region.

Option 2: "Dwarven Minority Party Given Full Rights!"
Replaces '044: Minkutam Democratic State' with '044-B: Limulkarineth Protocol'. Red Party starts the game with 1 Popularity in MINKUTAM Region.

Option 3: "Dwarven Autonomy Vetoed!"
No effect.

---Headline D: "PANKRATINIAN CAVALRY HEADQUARTERS BOMBED"---

"On 10th Late Spring 1898, the Pankratinian Cavalry Headquarters outside Krunica city were bombed. The adjacent munitions stockpile soon caught fire and caused a second, much more powerful explosion, which claimed the lives of Cavalry General Ignac Klemiec, who was on an inspection of the Headquarters that day, and dozens of other officers and soldiers. The bomber, Jozin Terpajev, was found in possession of Yellow Party pamphlets, and his arrest sparked a scandal in the Parliament."

Option 1: "Prominent Liberals Found Guilty!"
Grey Party starts the game with '020: Fears of Anarcho-Liberalism' in their Hand. Yellow Party loses 1 Popularity in KRUNICA Region.

Option 2: "Radical Liberals Found Guilty!"
No effect.

Option 3: "False Flag Operation Exposed!"
Moves '020: Fears of Anarcho-Liberalism' to 1930s Phase. Grey Party loses 1 Popularity in KRUNICA Region.

---Headline E: "ARCHPRIEST MANO XVI DENOUNCES PANKRATINIAN REVOLUTION"---

"In an unexpected turn of events, the orthodox Archpriest, Mano XVI, denounced the republican revolution in Pankratinia, the harsh treatment of Yebakrajevic Dynasty and the Singularist clergy supporting it. The subsequent arrest of Archpriest's emissary caused a scandal that culminated in the Round Table Talks of Early Winter 1905 to determine the future relationship between Pankratinia and Damedian Holy State."

Option 1: "State Atheism Enforced!"
Removes '025: Pieter III Proclaimed Saint' from the Deck. Red Party gains extra 1 Popularity to spend during preparatory stage.

Option 2: "Pankratinian-Damedian Reconcilliation!"
No effect.

Option 3: "Pankratinian Army Guarantees Singularist Primacy!"

Maybe because you have the broadest spread and the card works broadly?
Maybe because discarding a Blue card doesn't imply common cause? (While saving your "Professor": #10, a Yellow card, is the only thing I find searching that keyword.)

I'm not indifferent to your past help; yet if points are your great determinator, why should I not be worried about you? You've played Blue several times, but never in communication with me. You're an enigma.

Edit/Addendum: Tric, I hope you are not focusing so much on my perceived attack that you neglect to consider what I didn't do: I converted three yellow pips rather than red. While the card sets you back, I leave you in excellent scoring position for Krunica after Egan used a red card to strike me in that province.
