I've tried searching for an answer but cannot seem to find anyone else having asked this.  When a Suturer or a Wound Dresser applies a Suture or Bandage to a wound, is that thread or cloth destroyed or is it worn by the injured dwarf like clothing until the wound has healed?  Are there ever used suture threads or bandage cloths left over after a wound has been treated and healed?

With sutures, I find that the dorf just has the suture still in his arm years later, it never gets removed. I'm not certain about bandages.
