What's the biggest engine of stasis in the world today?

It's not Capitalism, since that's always trying to make new shit, despite those who aren't. It's not Politics, since that's always trying to change something.

First you'd have to define stasis.

Epigenetics. What good is a plan if you fail at wanting to want it.

Millennials obviously
More realistically, Power.

Those who have little Power advocate for Change, but have little Power and thus can not do much Change.
Those advocates with ability eventually amass more Power.  Then, they stop advocating for Change, because life is good with them in charge.
Those with Power benefit from the status quo, thus Stasis.

The Terrorist of Today is the Peacemaker of Tomorrow.

I recall one Baby Boomer explaining that in the 60s, everything was wrong and they fixed things.  Now they think everything is fine, and are fighting to keep things the way they are.  ::)

This is actually one of my arguments in favor of a Direct Democracy.  If we all can vote on all issues at all times, it allows more rapid power transfers, which keeps those with power from "getting comfortable".  Those in power under a Direct Democracy constantly need to assess their responsibilities, as each day they could be recalled by The People.  I'm highly idealistic on this point, but I like to imagine those able to make the honest and good decisions would end up in power more often than the charlatans.

So it's a matter of mentality. Where does that mentality come from besides "old?" And equally, is there a shared factor that explains the lack of mentality in the young?

Same as allways pinky, a 32h day and night cycle and a societal expectation of 30hour workweeks (the weekdays can stay the same)

Ironically, I sorta hate the 7 day week.
It's counter-intuitive to all other timekeeping, which is based on some multiple of 3.

Sounds like hating 5 out of 7... My current arrangement makes me only hate 2 out of 7 which would be good except the one in five I should prefer, I can hardly get myself to care about. Better to be free when others aren't than to be free on whatever represents shabbath in your culture. Living for the weekend is depressing and days that are not wholly to yourself are lesser days, agreed... yet somehow doing no more than 6 hours a day represents this middleground to me... Soulsucking yes but not so soulsucking I want to use my whole core strength to translate 70kg into a concussion. 6-6-6-6-6-9-off. I want to pick a fight every breakneck saturday but at least most weekdays Im more or less fine, that's more tolerable days in total.

Anyway you seem to miss the point, more time overall yet less time working in absolute numbers... I guess our hormone shit wouldnt like 21-11 or 14-2-8-8 (yuck fucking normies napping to perpetuate what school whipped in), but guess what I allready can't make my body agree with the masses as it stands.

That and subverting novel's expectations the point being. Stop popping up below me because of that one time, do you see this pointless rambling?! Nothing to value of read here, no you're not ignored still meant what I said because of social interaction heuristics, and a healthy dose of my life is too short for that.

How to stop eating sweets, chocolate, ice creams and other sweet stuff if it's soooo tasty?
