Wooden structures burn
« on: January 24, 2022, 03:20:05 pm »

Just the title. In my games I've observed that wooden walls, bridges, and floors don't really burn and light ablaze, even when subjected to the highest temperatures. It'd be nice if they were handled the same way trees are, meaning that a dragon attack on a wooden fortress is lots of !!fun!!

Was this always the case? I'm sure I had an overground wooden fort burn to the ground way back when

Actually, its all sketched in the devlog:
Quote
*Breaking into fortified locations

**Allowing constructions to burn, use of kindling/hay/etc. where reasonable
**Responding properly to personal fire issues (all modes)
**Fleeing burning buildings
**Fighting fire (all modes)
**Designation to set item or tile on fire in dwarf mode

Remember that DF is still in beta (for that matter, I can't even remember whether we've passed the alpha stage yet or not). Many, many more features are planned than have yet been implemented.

It's actually pretty terrifying to think about having all of your fat melt off into grease because you started sweating too much.

The way I see it, DF needs to be “feature complete” for it to be out of alpha and into beta.  It’s not “feature complete” yet…

You'd also expect that fortress that's built upon ice-blocks supports to be rather dynamically changed once you fill up its moat up with magma. ;)

(Constructions are immune to everything, right now. Except having been entirely undermined.)
