Just an interesting little way to spend some time. I'd recently made several desert sites in a newly created world that was split in half by a sea. The sites were to test aquifier bypassing via cave-in, but it didn't work out, and, as usual, mostly degenerated into a large mess of crushing and drowning. A bit bored, I decided to fire up Adventure mode on my new place, and noticed the only option for Human was 'Play Now'. Intregued, I picked it, and sent out a random Human, who ended up appearing at the site of one of my expeditions. He had no skills, no items, and no path to civilization, as all the cities were on the far side of the sea.
As it were, I travelled a bit until I came across the remnants of my dwarven crews. I had a brief chat with one, which impressed upon me just how useless they would be, before realizing that I was entirely alone, and lacking in supplies or defensive skills. Directly after this, I mused on how much of a pain these derelect dwarves would be the next time I wanted to test in a desert...
So, naturally, I strangled the first dwarf I could get my hands on.
As it were, the rest of the dwarves began to panic and run away, and I noticed I had brought down a woodcutter. Thinking quickly, I picked up the axe and laid the next closest dwarf low.

You pick up the Steel battle axe with your left hand.
The spinning Steel battle axe strikes The dwarf Farmer in the upper body!
It is broken!
The dwarf Farmer's right lung has been pierced!
The dwarf Farmer's left lung has been pierced!
The dwarf Farmer's heart has been pierced!
The dwarf Farmer's liver has been badly cut!
The dwarf Farmer's upper spine has been cut!
The dwarf Farmer gives in to pain.
The dwarf Farmer falls over.
Ral •nulzedot, dwarf Farmer has bled to death.

As the remaining dwarves were now far off, I rifled through the belongings of the dead dwarves, finding nothing but ill-fitting clothing. The axe seemed to be the only thing of value. It proved it's worth when I travelled a bit, only to find myself face to face with a cougar in a rather tough battle.
After that, I wandered a bit, looking for more immigrants and finding myself very hungry. As luck would have it, however, there was a dwarf nearby, holding something edible-looking...
quote:
The spinning Steel battle axe strikes The dwarf Miner in the head!
It is broken!
The dwarf Miner's right eye has been slashed out!
The dwarf Miner's nose has been badly cut!
The dwarf Miner's throat has been slashed out!
The dwarf Miner's neck has been badly cut!
The dwarf Miner's brain has been badly cut!
The dwarf Miner is propelled away by the force of the blow!
The dwarf Miner gives in to pain.
You pick up the Plump helmet [2] with your left hand.
Mebzuth Vab“kgeshud, dwarf Miner has bled to death.
Breakfast.
I spent most of the rest of the day chasing down the immigrants on the large map, before finally coming across one. This one was resilient, and it took a very, very long chase to bring him down.
At that point, I decided to wind it down for the night and post this.
It's really too bad I don't have a backpack of some sort, and I'm considering making a small settlement for him to raid and equip from, though I definately like the feel I have going now... Also, a bridge across the sea would be nice, but I know of no such way to allow for embarking on open water, so for now I'll have to be happy hunting down the remaining immigrants.
I think this would make a good story, though I have zero experience with the genre, so it'd probably take a while... trying to get an opinion or two on it..
