By process of elimination of the yellow positions, I knew on the third guess that it had to be PERxx... so I first came up with PERIL, after trying to spell PEARL too many times. When that didn't work, I started throwing combos at it until I recognized PERRY (which... you're probably not familiar with as a word unless you know too much about non-standard alcohols)... which was an obvious lead-in to PERKY.
