I just harvested a couple hundred berries in the first summer.  That covered my pops water needs for the next year.

Also can just fill buckets in streams/rivers.  Wells are just good for automation or if you made a settlement away from water.

I used all my berries for rot. Buying fertilizer, or the materials for fertilizer, is expensive.

I buy manure, 5 coins to make 1 fert.  So just one small wicker basket sells for enough to make 3 fert.

Best investment for your first crop: Flax. Flax seeds sell for insane profits, probably to offset the rest of the linen cloth tech tree not being profitable at all. It needs a barn to process into seeds though.

Discovered that there are snowmen around villages in winter. I've found three in Borowo. Interacting with them gives you random items. I got a bronze spear from the first one.

I have only now discovered the tab in the management screen which allows you to tell your population what and what not to eat and drink.

I'll turn them into proper dwarves yet. Once I finally unlock the tavern to make booze, they'll go on a strict alcohol only drinking policy.
In preparation, let's spawn more orchards.
