Three weeks since I updated this. Huh. Time sure as hell flies.

Quote
1. Practice some form of qigong or internal kung fu every day this year, or as close as I can manage. The occasional day missed is fine, but no big stretches without anything.
Been learning and practicing pretty much consistently this whole year so far.
Quote
2. Get better at fingertip pushups. Ideally be able to do 50 in a single set.
Had to take a few rest days, but I'm back at it, just managed 48 in a row today.
Quote
3. Finish the current arc of my quest and start the next one. Be more consistent with updates, dammit.
A few hundred words - better than nothing!.
Quote
4. Put effort towards learning another language - Czech or Chinese, either is fine.
I've been procrastinating here, I've got the money. Might do German, it's an easier transition from English.
Quote
5. Get therapy (again). Address unresolved issues, figure out if I'm actually as autistic as I act, etc. General 'put effort towards continuing to better your mental wellbeing' slot.
No active deterioration or anything, but I also haven't put any effort into actively searching stuff out.
Quote
6. Write one original, not consciously based off another person or corporation's material thing. A short story, outline and partial draft of a novel, but something other than Warhammer stuff, as much as I love writing about lizardmen. Doesn't even matter if it gets shown to anyone or not.
Wrote up a backstory for an RPG character, who I'll likely be able to reuse elsewhere. Not an original work per se, but it's something.
Quote
7. Learn the long form of any style of taijiquan. Whether it's from that dvd or live instruction, just get that done.
Been having good progress here - think I'm about halfway through knowing this.
Quote
8. Attempt to come to an answer about what career path I might like to pursue. At least spend time considering it. Will likely intersect with #5.
Got a suggestion of trying out security as a line of work. I've got a compatible skillset, I'll admit, but I am also kinda hesitant towards the idea. Something to consider, at least.
Quote
9. Make one (1) IRL friend around my age that is actually in local meatspace. Part of getting over chronic detachment from and disaffection towards people at large is making conscious effort to connect with people. This one might be mitigated by covid and/or zuckerberg shenanigans.
Been meeting up with a friend here and there that I haven't had the chance to talk to in a while. Good dude, good to interact with him. I'll call that good.

Hello, March. February was... Not great.

1) Comptia Security+ certification.
Backburnered.
2) Join another major user project as volunteer QA/testing.
Eyes open. Nothing's come along yet.
3) Write another game mod or two.
No progress, no ideas yet.
4) Write another 24 game reviews on Steam. That's two a month.
1/2. 3/24. Short this month.
5) Stream twice a month. 2/2. 3/24.
Hit the mark. Thanks, Elden Ring.
6) Volunteer somewhere.
Backburnered.
7) Learn about local elections and stay abreast of ones I can vote in.
aaaaaaaa
8 ) Go metal detecting or magnet fishing ten times this year.
Not yet.
9) Listen to 36 new albums.
3/3, 6/36. Some hair metal album I already forgot, disk 2 of Radiohead's Amnesiac, and, uh, one of Steve Reich's other minimalist albums. Good spread.
10) Participate in the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge thread.
I bought books this month. I did not read books this month.
11) Go on a road trip.
Ideas are in place- south for caves, or north for friend/mines/etc. If shit turns 'splodey with Russia, I'm driving north and not stopping.
12) NEW - Unplug from the computer once a week. 0/4, 0/40.
It's new. If we go by the metric of houseplants, I bought more of those too.

I'm kind of a mess this February. Still to do includes taxes, planning a bachelor party, and then in the next three months here, attend a wedding and move to another apartment. Frankly, I'd like to crawl into a hole and forget the world, but that's impossible.

Pretty much at minimum an hour of practice a day at this point. I may, perhaps, be getting a little obsessed. Just a bit.
Quote
2. Get better at fingertip pushups. Ideally be able to do 50 in a single set.
Reached 50! That was fast. I won't officially consider this goal reached until I can replicate the feat a few times, but ... yeah.
Quote
3. Finish the current arc of my quest and start the next one. Be more consistent with updates, dammit.
Been writing some more! Who knows, I might actually update within a month. That'd only make it ... 4, 5 months to write an update? God, that's slow even for me.
Quote
4. Put effort towards learning another language - Czech or Chinese, either is fine.
Mnegh, forgot about this. Got hit by choice paralysis while looking for what the best long-term language choice thing might be, classic mistake. I should just get a free trial of something and get started that way.
Quote
5. Get therapy (again). Address unresolved issues, figure out if I'm actually as autistic as I act, etc. General 'put effort towards continuing to better your mental wellbeing' slot.
Same as the verse before this, I'm not doing bad or anything but this specifically just hasn't been on my radar.
Quote
6. Write one original, not consciously based off another person or corporation's material thing. A short story, outline and partial draft of a novel, but something other than Warhammer stuff, as much as I love writing about lizardmen. Doesn't even matter if it gets shown to anyone or not.
Aaaaand back to nothing really here.
Quote
7. Learn the long form of any style of taijiquan. Whether it's from that dvd or live instruction, just get that done.
I think I've reached the 2/3 mark, or thereabouts - it's enjoyable!
Quote
8. Attempt to come to an answer about what career path I might like to pursue. At least spend time considering it. Will likely intersect with #5.
Yeah, no progress here.
Quote
9. Make one (1) IRL friend around my age that is actually in local meatspace. Part of getting over chronic detachment from and disaffection towards people at large is making conscious effort to connect with people. This one might be mitigated by covid and/or zuckerberg shenanigans.
I've had a pretty decent level of social interactions in general this week, I'll call that reaching the goal. This one seems to be evolving into more of a 'don't let yourself get socially isolated' thing anyhow.

All in all, I think I'm doing okay ... on the goals I've actually decided to work towards, that is.

Quick & Dirty 2022 list - March Edition
Well, life sucks for us all.
1) Revise List throughout year
Fuck that Does accidentally overwriting February's entry with March's entry count?  :P
2) Increase billing
Billing was slowed by the need to acquire a new printer, but decent for February
3) Save Money
Not as much money coming in, but haven't dipped into savings really
4) Lose weight target 180 lbs
Weight is up to personal shit and stress eating.  I walked today...
5) Purchase at least one newish computer
New printer.
6) Engage in one semi-formal dating experience with the opposite sex
Nope. I did go to a bar and actually talk to some women. Upgrading to Green, since I need the win
7) Runnish a Half-Marathon (unofficially is fine)
OK, walking once a month hardly counts.
8) Read 3 books
Eh, no
9) Write a new short story and/or edit.compile an existing one
I've had a couple ideas, but not inclined to sit down and write anything yet.
10) Update wardrobe with one newish suit
I need to purchase a couple new pants due to weight
11) Continue saving for sis to get married.
I think I gave mom some money.
12) Clean, service, and fire some of these cool guns staring at me.
I think I actually examined one of them...

Keep expectations low to avoid disappointment!
Keep expectations high and learn to ignore disappointment!
I mean, why focus on 11 things not done when you can Celebrate A Success!
I found this to inspirational, so I'm going to try to keep it front-and-center for a while.  Sorta egotistical, but it means more since I can't ignore my own words.

(Mental) Health:
1. Sign up for Chinese classes. If I want to reach further fluency, grammar is becoming a limiting hurdle.
-- Still no, but I'm using Chinese far more often than I was for the last two years - mostly because I'm not a depressed sack of shit right now.
2. Maintain a reasonable diet. This cycle of binging and cutting is not good.
-- Mixed success, but still a success, I'd say. I'm eating regularly and avoiding most junk food in favor of less junky snacks (like a jar of pickles).
3. Cook with an oven (this is harder than you might think) and introduce my wife and child to casseroles.
-- Pizzas, potatoes, and yams, huzzah! Casseroles are still on the docket. It is surprisingly hard to find a pan.
4. Slay the Great Wyrm: Caffeine. You can still enjoy a coffee, but you shouldn't need 2 cups a day to survive.
-- Absolute failure. 2-3 cups of caffeine a day.
5. Re-learn how to lift. Most of what you learned was in University, and almost certainly not based on evidence. Learn proper form and practice it (every week?).
-- Since work started, it's been hard to get to the gym. Rolling lockdowns for Covid cases as well has pretty much lined up the next two weeks as a no-go.
6. See a psychiatrist/take some therapy. It'll be good for you.
-- nope!

Accomplishments:
7. Finish all the code.golf challenges, even if your score isn't very good.
-- I think I did one? I have about an hour lunch break - and if I'm not working, lately, I've just been sitting and doing nothing. I can at least try to crack out some code.
8. Eat something you grew.
-- Garden is tended, but there's a lot of plant waste lying around. Lack of energy to plant stuff, though now is the time. I might fill a few of the pots with edible plants/herbs.
9. Drink something you brew.
-- Waiting on brewer friend to pass off their mead kit (they're moving), then I should be able to achieve this one easily.
10. Make another game, then do a gamejam or two. Also begin seriously working on a /bigger/ game.
-- I highly doubt this one is getting accomplished. Maybe during the summer.
11. Find a hobby to share with the wife (you know...like bird-watching or something)
-- It's been hard to find time to spend together. We watched a couple movies and that was about it.
12. De-radicalize a family-member (aim for the stars and if you miss, you'll land in the eternal vacuum of space!)
-- Good luck, bub.

Behemoths

1. Pass analysis and/or topo preliminary exams. - It's just going to have to be after summer break.
2. Clear algebra and analysis incompletes and new combinatorics incomplete. - *grin* WELCOME TO MY HELL
3. Prepare for and pass JLPT N1.
4. Apply to 8 opportunities I don't feel I'm sure of getting.
- I applied for a grant through the school [PENDING]
- I applied to be a directed reading project mentor [REJECTED, try again in the fall]
- I applied for a summer workshop [ACCEPTED]
- I applied for a summer abolitionist teaching reading group [PENDING]

5. Keep a journal. - I haven't written in my journal for quite a while, but I also haven't destroyed the journal even though I very much want to.
6. Depression treatment with magnets with needles. - The psychiatrist tried to put me on another stimulating antidepressant instead of giving the magnets and has lost my trust. I put myself on a lower dose of my normal antidepressant, which has been great so far, and am working on finding a reliable source of acupuncture after having tried it out once to great success.
7. Full Moon Teas - February was awesome! I think I missed March. Need to figure out when the April tea is.
8. Martial arts practice. Goal is to regularly practice 4x weekly by the end of the year. - We're about to start a new quarter. I'm planning to sign up for twice weekly practice.

9. Continue to downsize possessions.
10. Reading goals (see the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge) - I read a few books. I'm definitely reading more interesting books this year.
11. Tithe 10% again this year and consistently volunteer three hours per month. - The volunteering is going fine, I'm a bit behind on the tithing since I think I've probably only given 10% of the year total and we're 25% through the year. I'll look for some more opportunities to help.
12. New Year Cards

Whoops, missed a few weeks. I think. May have been more.

Quote
1. Practice some form of qigong or internal kung fu every day this year, or as close as I can manage. The occasional day missed is fine, but no big stretches without anything.
Still going hog on this pretty well. If I don't complete any other goal, it'll be this one.
Quote
2. Get better at fingertip pushups. Ideally be able to do 50 in a single set.
Started doing 4-finger (or more accurately, 3 fingers and a thumb) instead. Haven't been doing them every day or anything, but not bad.
Quote
3. Finish the current arc of my quest and start the next one. Be more consistent with updates, dammit.
Update's not out yet or anything, but I am writing!
Quote
4. Put effort towards learning another language - Czech or Chinese, either is fine.
Yeah, I really just kinda set this aside, didn't I? Maybe I can rectify that this week sometime.
Quote
5. Get therapy (again). Address unresolved issues, figure out if I'm actually as autistic as I act, etc. General 'put effort towards continuing to better your mental wellbeing' slot.
Yeah, just holding steady here.
Quote
6. Write one original, not consciously based off another person or corporation's material thing. A short story, outline and partial draft of a novel, but something other than Warhammer stuff, as much as I love writing about lizardmen. Doesn't even matter if it gets shown to anyone or not.
Got involved in a sort of collaborative project with a few characters. Not wholly original to myself, but it's writing regardless.
Quote
7. Learn the long form of any style of taijiquan. Whether it's from that dvd or live instruction, just get that done.
GOAL COMPLETED! Technically, I know the sequence of moves but it's not like I'm great at them yet. Time to work on that, I guess.
Quote
8. Attempt to come to an answer about what career path I might like to pursue. At least spend time considering it. Will likely intersect with #5.
Been considering personal training. I'll have to look into how to get certified and whatnot, but I've definitely got the experience necessary to do the job.
Quote
9. Make one (1) IRL friend around my age that is actually in local meatspace. Part of getting over chronic detachment from and disaffection towards people at large is making conscious effort to connect with people. This one might be mitigated by covid and/or zuckerberg shenanigans.
This one's ... well, we'll see this week. Going decently all in all, though.

I've got way too many stuffso n my plate to be doing vague stuffs so I'm giong to start marking things off as finished and cutting out extraneous tasks.

  • Work my way up to 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. I already have been doing enough of that this holiday, but we'll see about when I actually need to do university stuff too.
Done.
  • Stretch my hands at least twice a day.
Need to get back on this.
  • Learn the basics of Aikido. Not sure what this entails. Will update this goal later.
Nah...
  • Stick to my USMLE study plan
Done. Fuck this one.
  • Make my first game in Unity.
  • Like, actually sit down and draw a complete lineart. Maybe twelve. Pretty sure I drew less than that in 2021.
Still on it.
  • Learn enough about stocks that I actually know how to invest in them. I can feel my mental health deteriorating every time I look directly into capitalism, but I, unfortunately, have to manage my family assets at some point, and I doubt the revolution will come soon enough to free me from that.
No. Fuck this actually.
  • Reading goals. Probably counts as 3 behemoths, but my behemoths are relatively tiny anyways.
  • Learn R programming
  • Join a local fighting game community, if I can find one.
  • Get my German Duolingo lessons golden up to Unit 3
Got more than halfway done, but it started to get pointlessly obnoxious and I want to do the new lessons or other languages, so marking this as done so I can move on to Chinese.

April... Well, was.

stress, whooo

1) Comptia Security+ certification.
Backburnered.
2) Join another major user project as volunteer QA/testing.
Kinda sorta testing for a mod project/providing guidance to other players about it. Optimistic.
3) Write another game mod or two.
No progress, no ideas yet.
4) Write another 24 game reviews on Steam. That's two a month.
0/2. 4/24. My playlist is really small this month anyways.
5) Stream twice a month. 1/2. 8/24.
Short. Got busy and a little withdrawn.
6) Volunteer somewhere.
Still modding that discord community, so I haven't blown it yet.
7) Learn about local elections and stay abreast of ones I can vote in.
Local election, participated!.
8 ) Go metal detecting or magnet fishing ten times this year. 1/10
Too cold this month; too many weekends spent looking for stuff or avoiding people.
9) Listen to 36 new albums.
3/3, 12/36. Mostly weird stuff by Laurel Halo. Nothing worth sharing.
10) Participate in the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge thread.
I killed a few dozen pages in some hamtacular nonsense book about psychism. Pretty sure the author just wants to sell guided imagery meditations.
11) Go on a road trip.
TBD
12) NEW - Unplug from the computer once a week. 2/4, 2/40.
0/4 I don't recall actually doing this at all during April, but the whole month is kind of an anxious blur.

April's been about prepping for a friend's wedding and figuring out where I'm moving to. Wedding's on saturday, I'm signing the lease digitally tomorrow and picking up keys on monday. I've all of may to move out of my current digs, and then I'll be living with a good friend for six months. Oh, and I perform in a concert on monday, too.

But that means I still need to pack up everything, move everything (car, houseplants, etc), get internet set up at the new place, hope that the friends I'm leaving a few hours away keep their heads on straight, that my folks don't give me too much grief about moving further away...

It's an important month for important events, but not for important behemoths.

Is it that time again? April was actually pretty good for me.

Behemoths

1. Pass analysis and/or topo preliminary exams. - It's going to be after summer break.
2. Clear algebra and analysis incompletes and new combinatorics incomplete. - I'm back on academic probation. I'm going to class and doing some of my HW.
- I applied for a summer abolitionist teaching reading group [REJECTED]
- I applied for another summer workshop [PENDING]
- I applied for a marginalized student peer mentorship program [ACCEPTED]
- I'm running for department student body president [SOON]
- [eight]

5. Keep a journal. - I wrote an entry on the 26th for the first time in a few months.
6. Depression treatment with magnets with needles. - I finished weaning myself off of antidepressants. I'm still having some brain zaps but I'm doing great.
7. Full Moon Teas - I missed April because I was very sick at that time (see previous comment). I'm preparing for May.
8. Martial arts practice. Goal is to regularly practice 4x weekly by the end of the year. - Narrator: "they did not sign up for twice weekly practice."
9. Continue to downsize possessions. My girlfriend and I are talking about combining households and grad school is going well, which makes the amount of stuff I own a lot less ridiculous. I'm buying quite a lot of things as I establish my home, but I'm still working on finding and letting go of the things that I can't use anymore.
10. Reading goals (see the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge) - I read quite a few more books. I'm definitely reading more interesting books this year.
11. Tithe 10% again this year and consistently volunteer three hours per month. - I've given away a lot more money lately. It feels much more normal now: "someone needs something, help them out." I think I only have about $500 left in my yearly budget, but I gave half of my budget to military assistance for Ukraine this month.
12. New Year Cards

I've started the habit of treating myself every time I do something major like complete a problem set or otherwise do something I really, really don't want to, which is improving my mood a lot and meaning that I actually can buy more of the things that I need for my home and health. On the other hand, I need to accept that fresh berries are no longer readily inside my spending budget unless I stop buying coffee and snacks out. I will need to make some changes in that regard.

I'm very satisfied that three of my Behemoths are in such good, "almost-done" shape and that there's progress on my other work. It's only May 1, after all, and I lost time again during the January/February soft lockdown. Let's see what happens this month.

Quick & Dirty 2022 list - May Edition
Well, life sucks for us all. But at least the suckiness has subsided enough I can update this.
1) Revise List throughout year
I'm going to count updating this in May, when I skipped April, as a victory  :P
2) Increase billing
Still a work in progress, unfortunately.  We lost a few bills due to expiration of maximum billing time
3) Save Money
Had to dip into savings to pay taxes, but not as much as I expected.  Also see below, but again more savings that expected.
4) Lose weight target 180 lbs
I'm actually seeing declining weight!
5) Purchase at least one newish computer
I'm in the process of purchasing a new gaming laptop for personal use!
6) Engage in one semi-formal dating experience with the opposite sex
Went to a bar again, but too scared to talk to any women.
7) Runnish a Half-Marathon (unofficially is fine)
I've been walking a bit more, although not the multi-mile walks that I've done in the past
8) Read 3 books
Eh, no
9) Write a new short story and/or edit.compile an existing one
I've had a couple ideas, but not inclined to sit down and write anything yet. Revisions are also on the back back burner
10) Update wardrobe with one newish suit
I need to purchase a couple new pants due to weight, but weight is down so more fit.
11) Continue saving for sis to get married.
I'm actually a bit short on money, post taxes.
12) Clean, service, and fire some of these cool guns staring at me.
Dusty...

Keep expectations low to avoid disappointment!
Keep expectations high and learn to ignore disappointment!

May. May have been.

I moved!

1) Comptia Security+ certification.
Backburnered.
2) Join another major user project as volunteer QA/testing.
Bugs: reported. Betatesting: occurred. Tutorial video for installation instructions: 12,000 hits. I call this a win.
3) Write another game mod or two.
No progress, no ideas yet.
4) Write another 24 game reviews on Steam. That's two a month.
0/2. 4/24. New stuff? I ain't playin' new stuff.
5) Stream twice a month. 0/2. 8/24.
Moved. Gotta figure out if I still wanna do this with a roommate in earshot. Not that I'm especially ashamed of it, but...?
6) Volunteer somewhere.
Still modding that discord community, scheduling community events!
7) Learn about local elections and stay abreast of ones I can vote in.
Time to eyeball midterms and see if the end of my lease doesn't prohibit me from voting.
8 ) Go metal detecting or magnet fishing ten times this year. 1/10
Moved. Lots of space and place to do both here, though.
9) Listen to 36 new albums.
?/3, 12/36. Yeah nah I don't recall.
10) Participate in the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge thread.
haven't even looked at the thread, much less a book lol
11) Go on a road trip.
TBD
12) NEW - Unplug from the computer once a week. 4/4, 4/40.
Thursdays are open jam nights at the local watering hole. That gets me out of the chair!

Moving and settling went well, generally. Work's got me somewhat burnt out. Allergies are super bad right about now. Guess it's time to pick up on a project here before I start panicking about the next life change thing (moving in five months maybe)?

here comes june! june! june! june!

Behemoths

1. Pass topo preliminary exam. - I took two of the three required courses for it this year and will sign up for the third in the fall. I don't know everything I need to yet but I feel very confident that with three months of study before the exam, I'll be successful.
2. Clear algebra and analysis incompletes and new combinatorics incomplete. - Hopefully academic probation is done. I'm filing to have the algebra and analysis incompletes removed from the record via retroactive withdrawal from school in Spring 2021. Once that's over with I'll give a presentation and be done with the combinatorics incomplete.
- I applied for a summer abolitionist teaching reading group [REJECTED]
- I applied for another summer workshop [ACCEPTED]
- I applied for a marginalized student peer mentorship program [ACCEPTED]
- I'm running for department student body president [ACCEPTED]
- I have a proposed thesis advisor [PENDING]

5. Keep a journal. - I haven't written in a long time.
6. Depression treatment with magnets with needles somehow I'm not sure of yet. - I'm fully off of antidepressants. It's been hard because I'm having some Real Big Mood Swings but my current status is still better than it was on the pills. I need to make a summer Depression Plan
7. Full Moon Teas - I missed April because I was very sick at that time (see previous comment). Missed May. Somehow this process doesn't feel "natural" anymore, I guess because the people who would be my natural peers in terms of age (the professors) are discouraged from fraternizing with me; or maybe because the young students I'm in school with have no real conception of the effort it takes to put on a nice tea.
8. Martial arts practice. Goal is to regularly practice 4x weekly by the end of the year. - I got back in touch with the teacher who martials arts in the park and have the teaching schedule for June.
9. Continue to downsize possessions. I'm continuing to acquire books at a rate that the gf finds ... concerning. Fortunately I'm planning to break up with her? For reasons unrelated to my book situation?
10. Reading goals (see the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge) - I haven't read in a while, I'm feeling very ill.
11. Tithe 10% again this year and consistently volunteer three hours per month. - I'm doing fucking fantastic with this, which feels awesome. I started it as a moral obligation but it has started to feel natural surprisingly fast. I noticed that my opinion of people who need help has improved a hell of a lot and that I am more resourceful.
12. New Year Cards

I've been pleasantly surprised by doing Twelve Behemoths this year because the vague shape of the things I want to do hasn't changed, but sometimes my motivations for doing them evolve. It's helping me to feel more prepared for what I need to do each season and I feel like I'm getting greater insight this year into my emotional needs. I'm especially proud that I'm learning to stick my neck out more and swing for the fences, because "just going for it" is something I've never been good at.

Reorganizing the list somewhat, I can see that during the summer I need to focus on my research project and my self-care goals so that I'm ready for the fall.

So, in June, I want to do the following:
- Use a study/research plan.
- Use a PTSD recovery plan including martial arts practice and a reflective practice (like bonsai or something like that) on the side; and writing briefly in my diary each day.
- Update my reading goals to include my new study rhythm; and the fact that I need to take a break from "stretching" myself by reading fiction that expresses ideas and values harmful to queer people. I've been "stretching" myself to the point of inducing tearing for a very long time and I'm going to focus on self-protection for now.

Well, looks like I lost a couple of months here.

Behemoths

1. Pass topo preliminary exam. - I wasn't expecting to end up with three months worth of serious PTSD in the meantime. I'm not sure that I'm going to pass.
2. Clear algebra and analysis incompletes and new combinatorics incomplete. - Filing to have incompletes removed successful, and academic probation over and done with. I'll give a presentation and be done with the combinatorics incomplete.
3. Prepare for and pass JLPT N1. - Probably not this year. There's a few things happening in October and November that are going to make this impossible, and which are very important for me to participate in right now. I can't talk about what it is online, maybe I'll post in December.
4. Apply to 8 opportunities I don't feel I'm sure of getting.
- I applied for a grant through the school [REJECTED, try again this year]
- I applied to be a directed reading project mentor [REJECTED, try again in the fall]
- I applied for a summer workshop [ACCEPTED]
- I applied for a summer abolitionist teaching reading group [REJECTED]
- I applied for another summer workshop [ACCEPTED]
- I applied for a marginalized student peer mentorship program [ACCEPTED]
- I'm running for department student body president [ACCEPTED]
- I have a proposed thesis advisor [ACCEPTED]

5. Keep a journal. - I haven't written in a long time, but that's ok.
6. Depression treatment with magnets with needles somehow I'm not sure of yet. - I'm doing extremely well for someone who's dealing with as much bullshit as I am. I had to take melatonin and a low dose of CBD for a while since I couldn't sleep. I'm off of that regimen now and working on renormalizing my sleep schedule.
7. Full Moon Teas - *Shrug*. Maybe this was a pre-pandemic me type thing. I don't like any of the people I know enough to keep bothering to do this kind of thing.
8. Martial arts practice. Goal is to regularly practice 4x weekly by the end of the year. - I went to exactly one practice in June. I've been to two practices this year. Wing Chun at the university is starting up and the discord server has another they/them person in it who is stoked to participate, so maybe I'll be willing to try again.
9. Continue to downsize right-size possessions. Breakup has happened. It's become clear that I don't really need to downsize that bad, she was just trying to control me by making me get rid of stuff that makes me happy. In fact, I don't own a lot of things that I kinda need. It's so damn hard for me to find appropriate clothes that my old habit of "get one to use and a spare" has kept me from being totally ragged, but I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point. So I'm updating this goal: I have gotten rid of some books, but buying some cheap used bookshelves wasn't, shall I say, wrong. I also bought a used sewing machine.
10. Reading goals (see the Hot Fresh Reading Challenge) - I've been reading a lot and feeling a little better.
11. Tithe 10% again this year and consistently volunteer three hours per month. - This practice has literally changed my life and I can't recommend it enough.
12. New Year Cards - Not sure I'll do this. There's no one in my life that I like enough to bother reaching out to them so I can cultivate the relationship -- beyond my family, it's turned out that the employers I was worried about losing touch with desperately need my help with this and that.
