I've given it some thought, and this is honestly the best way. I'll let the current ones disappear before i post the new. Just got to work through a few more questions which couldn't get an answer elsewhere, and hear what ye dwarves may spake on them.

Probably that guy.

Sticking to the WW2-themed answers, I guess it's not technically a single person but the Battle off Samar is seen as one of the most lopsided victories in naval history. Clifton Sprague led the action, but a whole lot more folks than just him deserve credit.

Historically there are several examples of people clawing their way from slave to monarchs or otherwise-powerful leaders, though again it's always hard to say how much it's solely about the individual.

I do find myself vaguely curious if there's some boxer who effectively won 'above' his weight class by being at the very bottom of it and soundly beating those at the top of it.

Not sure how to fit hypnotoad into this one, not gon' like. I guess it was puppetting someone impressive, somewhere back there.

Particular event probably belongs to some unremembered deconstruction specialist, though. Someone that brought down a skyscraper or dam or somethin'. Maybe a primary bomb dropper in one of the major firebombing campaigns or something. You're on to something when the destructive weight disparity is in tonnage per pound.

Could have been someone who started one of those megafires in the US west... hard to beat burning down hundreds of thousands of acres when it comes to punching above your weight, y'know?

Plato, for his whole philosophy side gig. The man could’ve just stuck to his wrestling career (or maybe he couldn’t, it’s unclear how good he was at it).
