Can you give us  a few lines before and after that log? It might help.
Also, take a snapshot of the guard's legends page.

Actually, it isn't if you hit them so they want to attack you.

A guard would still be called a guard even if you made him hate you, so he could have just hit a guard then shot him.

Why on hell do you think he was shot by another guard? Is there ANY word about it? He was shot by the bolt and bled to death... A usual thing I see when I shoot some guards. Also he could be shot by anyone, because there's no message like "Elf Elite bowman shoots the arrow", and in fact there's no such log message at all.
Don't draw communities attention by fakes. =)

I think it's a usual thing when a new player interpretes the game situation wrong.

It just occurred to me.  Why would he drop his crossbow?  I officially think this is fake, and he added that so you'd think he shot himself.

Me too. There is absolutely no reason from the text given that he commited suicide. That bolt could have been shot by anyone.

Unfortunately, the immutable laws of physics contradict the whole premise of your account.  So, according to your story The Guard passes you and starts walking up the ramp at which point you say he was struck on the right temple. The Iron Bolt then proceeds to ricochet off the temple striking The Guard between the third and forth rib. The Iron bolt then came off the rib turned and hit The Guard in the right wrist causing him to drop his Copper crossbow. The Iron bolt then bounced off the wrist, Pauses -in mid air mind you- makes a left turn and lands in The Guard's left thigh. That, my friends is one magic Iron bolt!

The only possibility I can think of for the lost-hold-of thing is if he was wrestling something or someone that took it from him, but that would show up in the log...

It's so totally fake, and after reading that JFK post, I had to look up the assassination, that really was a crazy bullet.  The one thing I"m confused about, is if it was fired from the book depository, how did it go in his back and out his neck?  That would've required...  MRS. KENNEDY!!!!!!!
