"Creation, unbound by physical constraints.  By combining previously known or understoon information, you can create known systems and will them into existance, either through the medium of Dust or at the molecular level"

It's why I want to get the spaceship knowlege now.

If I understand that right we just have to think about a car and we can turn into one, that's pretty neat.

I guess all we have to do now is wait for the GM to return.

Well.. I think it will also require at least one die roll to see if making one is successful.  I can also see it being said that certain things are too hard or too complex to handle at the moment.

..but in general, yeah, I think that's how it works.  There might be other restrictions, say having to dissolve or possess something first to understand it, or some other tricks.

It's possible we could enhance or quicken the process by integrating chunks of whatever machine into ourself physically, although this would make it slower to change forms since we would have to divest the integrated machinery or convert it to "generic" body mass. Or use it to reinforce structural elements of a new form, or our "normal" form's legs/arms.

((Got the idea from Plan... C, I think, near the end of McCreary's Planet.))

((>Shows back up after a year.
>Posts in a long dead thread.
>Refuses to elaborate.))

Tell me of this Empyreal weak point. Basil orders, echoing the Others that clamor within. He does not speak, not wasting time with forcing the muscle and meat of his throat to shape the air. Strategic significance. Defenses. History. Name.

The Revati System is of no cultural or historical significance, to humanity or the False Children. A red dwarf, with no habitable worlds. It is an outpost star, located within the far Rim of the False Empyre. A Combined Defense Fleet of the Empyreal navy maintains a picket to defend one of their Gates there. Joyful relish once more creeps into its tone. Not that it matters. Once infected, those ships will be sent back through, under stealth, to continue the infection procedure.

What good will that do across the size of the Empyre? Basil questions, considering the logistics.

The other Lords and Ladies of the Court will be doing the same, within the same time frames. Your Mother has the honor of the first strike by a margin of seconds.

[ | ]
Basil’s lips turn into an exaggeration of a frown. His mind turns inward at the prompting, and he probes at the energy flowing between the nexus. It seems to be…highly compressed electromagnetic waves, transmitted between my cells to rapidly transfer data. They are more concentrated within the Nexa.

Has my mother rules for me to follow? Basil’s eyelids slide open, his pupils returning to focus on the Herald.

You must not leave the vessel for one year, personal time. Do not seek out your elder siblings. They will see you as a threat, just as you must see them as a threat. If your pet wanders, I will kill it. Her voice whispers into Basil’s ear. A Praetor, a Lord, especially a weak, little, tiny… fledgling less than a day old is a succulent treat. Were it not for your… interesting mutation, I might have starved them myself...

Basil shudders as her voice trails off.

My King? The Herald speaks. A recommendation? Before your training?

What is it? Basil’s curt reply cuts without tone.

{Meditation}.

Explain.

A period of slowed metabolic consumption, defragmentation, and lowered processing requirements. A moment to reflect on active time, and make preparations for higher efficiency. The Herald speaks strange. Its voice less beast and more man. It teaches Basil the operating procedures.

Meditation learned!

I-… intend to –

[ | ]
Hush child. Let the darkness carry you to your dreams. When you awaken, you will start your training.

Basil returns to the room, sitting upon the slab. His legs twist under him, and his eyes shut tight against the distractions of the physical world. Sound fades. Then touch. Then—

There was a life once lived. Or many. Old memories. Forever repeated like endless fractals across space and time. Archetypes, distilled from thousands of memories, from thoughts and drives and joys and—emotion. Raw emotion--

What Archetype will drive Basil?

Dang, welcome back!!

I have ideas for choice of Archetype and Aspect, but I'll wait on any of my fellow players to crop up, to get their input - we should get their vote at least.

I'm sure some will appear.

I had been wondering what you had been up to. I'm glad to see you're back. That does sound like "a hell of a year," congrats on getting through it.

Oh good grief, it's back.
This game occupies such a weird space in my head even now, I don't have the words. Will have to reread this thread at very least before I cast any votes.

Sounds like you've been slogging forward in life, anyhow! Glad to hear you shook off some stuff.

Wow, I was not expecting to see this back again.  What a pleasant surprise.  Life happens, but I'm glad you're doing better now.

I don't really have any ideas, but my first thought is that the Blighted aspect should probably be avoided.

Hi, Superdorf, ZBridges. I agree - Blighted would be bad for Sloan's prospects, and anything we might wish to preserve. We'd just be carrying on this ship's legacy.

Quote from: <̴m̷n̸e̵m̵o̸n̴i̷c̷ ̵a̵r̸c̴h̶i̸v̸e̵>̶
Crisp, clean tomes of Sinitic script mingle with spiral-bound notebooks, stacked in piles on the desk, strewn across the foot of the bed. The room is pastel yellow, marble and painted concrete, with a balcony looking out over the sun-dappled courtyard below. A man stands in the doorway, his expression obscured by a gilt-edged visor. His daughter has just left for the afternoon.

She is a light unto the world.

How the scholar hungers, Ο Βασιλίσκος μου! How the philosopher hungers! There is a hollow always in his soul, until he has found what is true and good in life.

Your enemies are numerous, and your surroundings corrupt. Let your mind hunger, then, that you may find power. Let your soul hunger, that you may attain excellence. You will need both if your [identity, self-state] is to remain whole.

Scholar and void seems solid.

We need to learn, adapt, quickly and get all the power and agency we can, so these seem like solid choices to me too. However, I'd like to bring up Outcast or Trickster for consideration too - Outcast because, well, we're not planning to be bound to the Glass or our Plague legacy so it's fitting, and Trickster because it could give us an unexpected edge.
These aren't my votes (in case that wasn't clear from both being archetypes), but just some thoughts.

Flickers in the void. A distant, faded memory stirs. A tale of a Little King. Of our Βασιλίσκος. My thoughts gather, slowly, long-dormant connections flickering to life. Still so slow. So tragically slow. I must review these memories, before offering advice to our Little King. If time must march on, I yield to the wisdom of the Ancient Sage, source of our Little King's noble name [Superdorf].

((I'm going to need to reread this thread before making any suggestions, and the earliest I'll be able to do that is sometime tomorrow. If that's not quite soon enough,  consider my impulse votes for Scholar or Outcast and Void))
((Disregard above statement, my true vote is in a more recent post than this))
((Glad to hear you're doing well, Egar. Sounds like a rough time, glad you're coming out the other side in good shape. What's the cat's name, if you don't mind me asking?))
